2000 NFL Mock Draft
By: Douglas E. Love
Round 1 | Round 2 | Round 3
63. Cleveland RB Miami(Ohio) Travis Prentice 6-0 / 225
--Prentice doesn't fumble which is a major plus. He'll have to learn how to block and to catch a swing pass.
64. Washington(via New Orleans) CB No. Carolina St. Lloyd Harrison 5-10 / 190
--They need to groom an eventual replacement for Darrell Green. Harrison has plenty of experience defending the pass.
65. San Francisco QB Hofstra Giovanni Carmazzi 6-3 / 224
--Walsh finally pulls the trigger on his quarterback of the future... and it's Carmazzi of Hofstra.
66. Cincinnati WR Florida State Ron Dugans 6-1 / 206
--Brown teams Warrick up with his conterpart, the solid, polished, Ron Dugans. Excellent selection. Now get rid of Pickens.
67. Atlanta OLB Kansas State Mark Simoneau 6-0 / 237
--Simoneau is a solid player, who will fit in nice next to Keith Brookings. Thought they might go WR here.
68. Tennessee(from Philadelphia) TE Florida Erron Kinney 6-6 / 272
--Along with Wycheck, Kinney gives Tennessee more formations to play out of. He has good size and good potential.
69. Chicago WR Georgia Tech Dez White* 6-1 / 218
--Besides Grant, White is the biggest day one tumbler. White can fly at 4.29 and has tremendous return skills.
70. Denver WR Texas A&M Chris Cole 6-0 / 191
--Work out warrior with incredible speed for a team that needs a sure-thing no.3 receiver.
71. Arizona DT Tennessee Darwin Walker 6-3 / 293
--With all their probable defensive line troubles on the horizon, taking strong man Walker is a good pick here.
72. Pittsburgh DT Mississippi Kendrick Clancy 6-1 / 283
--Peculiar selection here as Clancy is undersized for a 3-4 and not quick enough or tall enough be an end.
73. NY Giants WR Lambuth Ron Dixon
--You want a super-sleeper ... Here's a guy that's sent everyone running for their notebooks. We don't even have a size on this guy ... that's a super-sleeper!
74. Green Bay DT Nebraska Steve Warren 6-1 / 307
--Expected Jerry Johnson here. But Warren has a good upside and should be able to contribute immediately.
75. Baltimore QB Louisville Chris Redman 6-3 / 222
--Had Baltimore with a qb here, just didn't expect it to be this one. Excellent value for the pick.
76. New England RB Arizona State J.R. Redmond 5-11 / 216
--Since the Big Tuna left town, this team is struggling to have a good draft. Hopefully Redmond can move in and start.
77. Pittsburgh(via Oakland) CB Pittsburgh Hank Poteat 5-10 / 197
--Poteat may not be the biggest corner around, but he's a comer. Has solid return game. Keeps improving.
78. NY Jets WR Florida State Laveranues Coles 5-11 / 192
--Incredibly explosive. Coles has his history which kept him from going higher, but he is a big play deep threat.
79. Cleveland WR Tulane JaJuan Dawson 6-1 / 199
--When riding the Green Wave to an undefeated season, Dawson was a favorite target of Shaun King. JuJuan gives Cleveland a solid possession receiver.
80. Seattle(via Dallas) WR Florida Darrell Jackson 6-0 / 197
--Florida product showed flashed when taking over for the injured Taylor. Good routes, steady hands.
81. Detroit RB Oregon Reuben Droughns 5-11 / 215
--Good selection. Detroit now goes into the season with Stewart, Irvin, and Droughns... running behind Gibson and McDougle.
82. Carolina OG Indiana (Pa.) Leander Jordan 6-4 / 330
-- Showed feet were slower than anticipated. But good strenght in the running game.
83. San Diego OG Kansas State Damion McIntosh 6-4 / 328
--After moving over from the defensive line, only has one year OL experience. Has good potenial and won't be asked to contribute right away.
84. Miami CB Colorado Ben Kelly 5-9 / 183
--Recent work out upped his stock. Smallish corner, not as talented as, say, Macklin, but good return man.
85. Kansas City S Ark. Pine-Bluff Greg Wesley 6-3 / 204
--The second real sleeper in this draft. Wesley has the size Cunningham has been likes. Could replace Reggie Tongue.
86. San Francisco(via Seattle) ILB Hawaii Jeff Ulbrich 6-1 / 249
--Player on the rise. Faster than most realize. Compiled huge numbers ... finally got noticed. Good fit for team rebuilding.
87. Chicago(via Washington) ILB Wake Forest Dustin Lyman 6-4 / 260
--The Bears had actually plugged FB Ty Hallock in at MLB, certainly he'll be glad to see Lyman at the next camp.
88. Minnesota RB Marshall Douglas Chapman 5-10 / 215
--Underrated I-back who ran for 1,000 yards each of his first three seasons. Good fit in Minnesota's system.
89. Buffalo OLB Virginia Tech Corey Moore 5-10 / 223
--Something had to be done about Gabe Nothern's inability to get the quarterback ... so they bring in the sack master, Corey Moore.
90. Tampa Bay ILB Miami (FL) Nate Webster 6-0 / 220
--Made a ton of tackles in Miami. Undersized linebacker, but Tampa's used to that. Will compete in camp.
91. Indianapolis CB Penn State Dave Macklin 5-9 / 194
--Perhaps the best cover corner in the entire draft ... only his size is a disadvantage against today's 6-6 receivers.
92. Jacksonville ILB So. Mississippi T.J. Slaughter 6-0 / 247
--Jacksonville drafted for the positions they needed to fill. Slaughter is a player like Eric Barton. He'll make the roster and could be starting before season's end.
93. Tennessee DE Brigham Young Byron Frisch 6-4 / 281
--Always looking to upgrade the pass rush, Frisch posted nice combine numbers ... which never hurts your chances with Tennessee.
94. St. Louis C Virginia John St. Clair 6-5 / 302
--St. Clair was widely regarded as the best center in the draft. St. Louis gets a steal at no. 94.
