Football's Future

Kay-Jay Harris RB West Virginia 6’ 232
Kay-Jay played minor league baseball for three seasons, before giving football a try again. He played two seasons in junior college before transferring to West Virginia. As a junior, he backed up Quincy Wilson and finished the year with 524 yards and 4 touchdowns. He job was turned over to him as a senior, and he finished the year with 959 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground, and 20 catches for 181 yards, and 3 touchdowns in the air.
Harris brings great size and strength in the backfield. He is very strong, and will lower his shoulder and run through the defender. What is surprising about Harris though, is that he has very good initial quickness. He gets moving very quickly and gets through the hole right away. He has good speed and can break off the long run. Playing minor league baseball for three years, he is more mature, and knows what it takes to be a professional athlete already.
Harris is a very intriguing prospect. Based on his running and receiving skills, he is a solid second round selection. But, when you factor in his age and his durability issues, it clouds his future. As a prospect, he carries an early Day 2 grade, but he has the ability to really outplay that draft position. If he can pick things up early and stay healthy, he has a chance to be an above average starter at the next level.
