Roscoe Parrish WR Miami 5’10 168
By: Robert Davis

Roscoe Parrish has made his name based on his ability to score anytime he touches the ball. His first two years on the field at Miami, his primary role was punt returner. As a redshirt freshman he averaged 13.4 yards per return, and as a sophomore he averaged 10.4. As a receiver during those two years, he only had 38 catches for 592 yards and 3 touchdowns. As a junior in 2004, he took on a much larger role as a receiver, beating his career totals in one year. He finished the year with 43 catches for 693 yards and 8 touchdowns. He also had his best year as a return man, racking up a 16.2 punt return average with 2 of them being returned for touchdowns.

Give Roscoe the ball, and watch him run. He has great moves in the open field and can run right by defenders. He needs the ball as much as possible because he is so explosive. Despite his lack of bulk, he is willing to go underneath and over the middle to make plays and won’t shy away from contact. He also is ranked as one of the top punt returners in the draft.

His lack of bulk may only allow him to operate out of the slot at the next level. He can be taken out at the line of scrimmage by physical corners and his body may not be able to take too many hits over the middle.

Even though he may not have the pure size to be a star as a wide receiver, his value as both a slot man and punt returner will make a lot of teams place him high on their draft boards. He should hear his name called somewhere in the second round.
