D'Brickashaw Ferguson OT 6'6 297 Virginia
By: Robert Davis
D'Brickashaw Ferguson was a lightly recruited athlete, but has been one of the truly elite offensive lineman in the country during his college career. He won the job in camp as a true freshman and has not given it up over his entire career. He has started all 48 games he has played in.
There has not been a tackle in recent memory with as much natural athleticism as Ferguson. He just glides around the field, easily mirroring opponents moves. He sets up quickly and has excellent lateral agility. He can get out and block on the move as well. There isn't a better pass blocker in the draft. Ferguson also shows the ability to seal off and create running lanes for his backs. Off the field, Ferguson is equally impressive. He is a youth minister at his church and an honor student at UVa.
The only flaw with D'Brickashaw Ferguson may be his lack of bulk. It is the same knock as last season. He is on the lean side, and measured in at 297 at the Senior Bowl. That is an improvement over last season, but he could still use some more bulk on his frame.
Ferguson is a true franchise caliber talent. He has the talent to go #1 overall in the draft. He passed on the chance of being a Top 5 pick last season, but he is right back in that area now. Even in a very deep offensive tackle draft, Ferguson is still at the top. If there was not a running back by the name of Reggie Bush in this draft, he would have been the favorite to be the top selection by Houston.
