Ryan O'Callaghan OL 6'6 344 California
By: Robert Davis
Ryan O'Callaghan has really come on the last two years. Even though he played early on in his career, he truly began to shine as a junior in 2004, and continued his standout play as a senior.
Once O'Callaghan locks on to you, it's all over. With his massive frame and strength, he has the ability to dominate at the point of attack. He is a mauler in every sense of the word. He combines his size advantage with excellent toughness, and he just continues to fight and claw even if he does not lock on off the snap. He will also bring some versatility to his NFL team, as he has a ton of experience at tackle, but projects more to guard at the next level.
All of his experience is at tackle, but he may lack the agility and athleticism to play outside on a consistent basis at the NFL level. He may have to learn to play inside at guard. His height is nice on the outside, but it means he is going to have to work extra hard at keeping his pads low against shorter tackles in the NFL.
O'Callaghan is a very good offensive line prospect. With his ability to dominate in the running game, he is going to make a fine right guard or right tackle at the next level. He lacks the ideal athleticism for the league, but his ability as a run blocker will find him a home on someone's roster. He should hear his name called at some point near the end of Day One.
