The run defense wasn’t effective most of the time, and the team can make a move at linebacker to try and correct the problem. Injuries presented a problem in ’06, including an injury that slowed end Dwight Freeney for a number of weeks and the loss of safety Bob Sanders for part of the season, but the team was able to overcome and win the Super Bowl. If the team wishes to repeat, they will need to acquire a run-stopping linebacker who can provide more muscle to an already speedy unit.
The offensive line is not a position of significant need, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the future, and the team will look to add young depth to a solid unit. Left tackle Tarik Glenn and center Jeff Saturday are both over thirty, and the position lacks much depth.
