The offensive line needs improvement at both the offensive guard and tackle spots, as the talent at each spot is not good enough to win consistently. However, a more considerable line need may be at center, since starter Kevin Mawae is now thirty-six. The Titans will need to start thinking about a possible replacement for Mawae, who has also had a significant injury in the recent past. Even though Vince Young is a mobile signal-caller, the franchise will look to provide as much protection for him as possible in an effort to appease their most valuable asset.
Drew Bennett and Bobby Wade are gone and there are questions as to how strong an attack the passing game will provide with the loss of both. David Givens and Brandon Jones make up the starting pair of receivers for the Titans at this point, but Quarterback Vince Young may need more quality targets in the passing game. While his current group is young and features some talent—or potential for talent—a top-notch threat may be something to strongly consider acquiring.
Defensively, the team is still waiting to see young talent mature, but a new defensive tackle or defensive end that can really create trouble is needed alongside Kyle Vanden Bosch. Tackle Albert Haynesworth hasn’t performed in a consistent way, and his actions in a game against the Dallas Cowboys in ’06 have put him on shaky ground with some. There is depth on the in the trenches, but the quality of talent can be improved upon.
