Olsen originally signed with Notre Dame, but after a few practices decided to transfer to Miami. He redshirted in 2003, and was the teams backup tight end in 2004. He caught 16 balls for 275 yards and a touchdown on the year. As a sophomore, he had 31 receptions for 451 yards and four touchdowns. As a junior, Olsen had 38 receptions for 444 yards and a touchdown.
Olsen is an excellent receiving weapon. He is tall, and creates a big target for his quarterback. He is a good athlete, and knows how to get open and make plays with the ball in his hands. Olsen has very good hands and will not drop many passes.
Olsen will need to bulk up and get stronger at the next level. He can have trouble with physical defenders that get in his face off the snap. He also is not a great blocker, and will need work in this area. Getting stronger would definitely help in this regard.
After an impressive post season showing, Olsen left no question that he will be the first TE selected. He could go as high as 14, but should be taken somewhere in the first round.
