Before landing at Iowa, Yanda attended North Iowa Community College for two seasons, where he played both tackle and guard. He followed that trend at Iowa, playing both spots in his two seasons there.
Yanda is a versatile and physical offensive lineman. He has extensive duty at the college level at both tackle and guard. He gets into his stance very quickly off the snap, and has the ability to slide well laterally, and block on the move. In run blocking, he fires off the snap and gets into the defender very quickly.
Yanda is tough and physical, but he lacks the strength to match up with NFL caliber defensive lineman on a consistent basis. He must get stronger in order to reach his potential.
A bit of an unknown entering the year, Yanda came on strong with a very good senior season. He has played a number of positions, and has done well at each spot. He projects to guard at the next level, but will need work. If he can get stronger, Yanda has all the other tools to be a solid guard in the NFL.
