Richardson became a started at tackle in the fifth game of his freshman season, and has kept the job ever since.
Richardson has a lot of talent. He has a huge frame and has shown the ability to control defenders at the point of attack. He can dominate in the running game and ride defenders out of the play. Richardson also shows the natural athleticism to be a solid pass protector and keep the defender at bay.
The problem with Richardson is motivation. All his positives have only been in flashes. He does not show the toughness or tenacity on a consistent enough basis to live up to his potential. He is going to have to show that he wants it and prove to teams he will not get lazy on the field.
Richardson may just be one of those guys that never gets it. He has the unquestioned talent to play at the next level, he just does not want to put in the work to maximize it. Even though his college career is over, he could still prove the doubters wrong.
