Nicks originally began his collegiate career as a defensive tackle at New Mexico St before shifting to offense. He then transferred to Hartnell(CA) Junior College. After earning JuCo All America honors, he landed in Lincoln. He backed up at right tackle as a junior, before taking over at LT as a senior.
Nicks has a massive frame. He is huge and has the ability to engulf defenders at the point of attack. His size and strength allows him to drive defenders off the ball and clear opening running lanes. Nicks shows impressive agility for a player his size, and is a solid pass blocker. He has some upside because of his all around natrual gifts.
Nicks is raw, and has only one year of starting experience at the D1 level. He needs time to refine his skills because he has been successful because of his physical traits. As a 25 year old rookie, the time needed to refine his skills make scare some teams off.
Nicks is a lineman that could go much higher if he had more time in school to develop his skills. Bouncing around schools has limited his time on the field and stunted his growth. He has the talent to be a starter in the NFL at right tackle. He could hear his name called in the third round because of his natural talent but he needs to show he can adjust quickly and get on the field early.
