Wolfe began his career as a running back, but moved to the secondary for the 2005 season. In his first season as a corner, he had 65 tackles and two picks. As a junior, he only had 19 tackles but picked off two more passes. As a safety in 2007, Wolfe had 87 tackles and four picks on the year.
Wolfe has a lot of upside. He is a very good athlete, with the quickness to be a factor in coverage from his safety position. Despite only playing three seasons on the defensive side of the ball and bouncing around from corner to safety, he shows very good instincts and ball skills.
Wolfe still needs more time to learn the safety position, and get more comfortable on the field. He has only average size and will need to get stronger to be more of a factor in run support. Wolfe also lacks blazing speed in the secondary to stick with receivers down the field.
Wolfe developed nicely as a defender despite switching positions a few times. He is a guy who could be taken on Day Two that develops into a contributor into a couple years with some more time to develop as a football player.
