Keller spent a year redshirting in 2003, then showed off his big play ability as a freshman in 2004. He only caught five passes, but they went for 102 yards and two touchdowns. As a sophomore, he improved to 13/128/3. Keller became a major weapon as a junior, hauling in 56 passes for 771 yards and four touchdowns. He continued with the standout play as a senior, finishing the year with 68 passes for 881 yards and seven touchdowns.
Keller is an excellent receiving tight end. He is a very good athlete, with the quickness and speed to make things happen. He knows how to get open, and can get down the field to make plays. Keller has excellent hands and will catch anything near him, and can take a hit and hold on to the football.
Keller lacks ideal size for the position. He is strong for his size, but he lacks the overall size to match up and be a consistent blocker. He will need to improve on his blocking to become more well rounded at the next level.
This years tight end class is shaping up to be very deep. Keller is a very good receiver and put on a show at the combine, showcasing impressive speed and agility for a tight end. The 6'2 measurement is a bit undersized however. Keller’s talent as a receiver should allow him to hear his name selected in the second round in April.
