Cousins began his career on the defensive line before moving to the offensive side in 2005. He started the first eight games in 2006 but lost his job before regaining it for the 2007 season.
Cousins is a very talented offensive lineman. He is an excellent athlete, that is quick off the snap and sets up quickly in pass protection. He shows the ability to move well laterally, and get out and block on the move. Cousins has a ton of potential, since he has only played three seasons on the offensive side of the ball. His brings a lot of versatility to the field as well. He has the athleticism to play tackle, but his size would allow him to shift inside to guard as well.
Cousins is still a work in progress, and may need time at the next level. He relies on his natural gifts too much at this point. He may start out at guard, but he will need to bulk up to hold up better at the point of attack. Cousins also needs to show more intensity on the field, as he didn’t seem to want it bad enough until this year.
Cousins is a talented lineman, but he is not a sure thing at the next level. He has all the talent to compete in the NFL, but he will need to work harder and continue to develop as an offensive lineman.
