Tupou began his career at Sierra College, and spent two years there before transferring to Oregon. He sat out his first year as a Duck, then took hold of a starting job and never let go while earning All Pac 10 2nd team honors twice.
Strengths
Tupou is a beast on the field. He has a huge frame and plays like a player his size should. He has excellent strength and can easily push defenders around and drive them to the ground. Not many can match the natural strength he has, and he should continue to be one of the strongest guys even at the NFL level. He combines that natural strength with a mean streak and a will to come out on top. Tupou is nasty on the field and isn’t happy unless he has brought someone to the ground. He is not just brute strength either, as he shows surprising agility in a short area. He moves his feet well side to side and with his strength, is able to neutralize the defenders advances up the field. Tupou could play inside at guard or tackle in the NFL.
Weaknesses
Tupou can get sloppy at times on the field. He will have only two years of experience at the D1 level, and he needs more work staying consistent with his footwork. He can have trouble when he needs to move too far out of his comfort zone and does not change direction well.
Future
Tupou is a solid right tackle prospect that may also bring some ability inside at guard because of his strength and ability to control defenders at the point of attack. He lacks ideal athleticism to be a high pick but he could be a very solid mid round pick that has a very successful NFL career.
