Harris was in on 12 tackles as a freshman in 2005 but used that as a learning experience to prepare him for a bigger role as a sophomore. That year, he picked off four passes to go with 34 tackles on the year. As a junior last year, Harris earned 1st team All ACC honors after finishing the year with 36 tackles and five picks.
Strengths
Harris is a jack of all trades. He has played corner, wide out, and returned both kicks and punts for the Hokies, and had success at every spot. He will not play on offense in the NFL, but he should be able to provide an impact at corner and on special teams. Harris is a good athlete that is quick and changes direction well. Harris also has the toughness to support the run, and will get physical with receivers.
Weaknesses
Harris gambles too much on the field. He will go for the big play and end up giving up the catch in the process. He needs to play with more discipline on the field. He also lacks standout speed and does not have the recovery speed to make up ground once he makes a mistake.
Future
Harris declared for the 2008 draft before deciding to return for his senior season. He is a bit of a work in progress and may not have all the ideal physical tools for the NFL but he has enough to be a quality NFL player. His versatility is a plus, and he has big play ability as a returner or DB with the ball in his hands.
