A kicker in the first round?
University of Colorado kicker Mason Crosby, who received a second round grade from the NFL advisory committee after his junior year, is hoping to become the first kicker since 2000 to be selected in the first round.
Crosby had an impressive senior bowl, booting a 52 yard field goal in practice and connected on two field goals during the game.
While Crosby is a talented kicker, it's very unlikely that anyone will spend a first round pick on him. He's more likely to go in the second or third round.

It's very unlikely he sees the 2nd round too. There is a major knock on his inability to hit the endzone on kickoffs, and scouts noticed during the senior bowl.
I think that's a very underrated part of being a kicker, and most coaches value field position more than anything.

but he does have good hang time on his kickoffs. Not many can do both and he is an accurate kicker. Look for him to go in the second.
He'll be lucky id he is a first day pick, let alone first round. He is not nearly the prospect that Nugent was coming out a couple years ago, and he was only selected in the mid 50's. 4th rd is much more likely for Crosby than the 1st.

I don't know....field position is good at times. But points are better. And in some cases the punter is kick-off guy because they don't want their kicker to injury himself on kick-offs. Jano got into the 1st round because of his power...and not his accuracy. Maybe, Crosby will get in through accuracy and not power, although it's showing he's got some.

the guy has plenty of power. i was at the CSU vs CU game when he nailed a 62 yard field goal that didn't count because CSU called a timeout. thats plenty of power for any team. i still say third round though.
Why bother wasting a high draft pick on a kicker. So many of the best kickers in the game are picked up off the street. Did the Raiders really get anything special by spending a 1st round pick on Janikowski ? I think not !!
I think he should go in the early 1st round. Maybe at 4th overall or 7th overall or 10th overall. He's that good.
