Senior Bowl Question: Next Jay Cutler?
Last year, heading into the Senior Bowl all the QB talk was about Young and Leinart. During Senior Bowl week, while Young and Leinart sat at home, Jay Cutler wowed scouts and his stock took off.
Again this year, the top two QB prospects are not at the Senior Bowl. Brady Quinn has a minor knee injury and will skip the game, while JaMarcus Russell is a junior and can't participate. Which QB will impress scouts during the week to move into the number three ranked QB spot?
Here are the QBs that will participate:
Trent Edwards, Stanford
Kevin Kolb, Houston
Chris Leak, Florida
Tyler Palko, Pitt
Jordan Palmer, UTEP
Troy Smith, Ohio St.
Drew Stanton, Michigan St.

I personally think Palko may impress people the most. I think he is one of the underated QB's in this draft. His only knock is that he lacks great decision making (as did Cutler)
I think Stanton might be the guy. Same for Palko an Kolb
If you look at it before this week, a guy that comes to mind as this years "Cutler" may be Trent Edwards from Stanford. He was in a very similar situation as Cutler was in Vanderbilt, with a depleted offense, and little support around him. Edwards struggled, but his intanglibles are something to note. I think like Cutler, his stock isn't high because of the team he plays for. Otherwise, their situations going into this game appear to be very similar. If Edwards can prove that he can utilize his skill-set, then he could very well be an early second round guy.
I think its gonna be trent edwards. He reminds me of a Chad pennington type of prospect. Another player with a lot to gain is Chris Leak. He is gonna have to perform in order to continue the hype from the Championship. He might be able to sneak into the second round.
I Believe Kevin Kolb will turn out to be a better pro than Quinn, another overrated ND QB. Kolb has reminded some scouts of a young Brett Favre. Kolb has the ability to throw on the run, has good touch on his passes, and is an intelligent QB. He didn't get the recognition either coming from the weak C-USA, but all the scouts know his name, and it will only get hotter after the combine.
Kevin Kolb will come out as the next Cutler. He is the best decision maker at quaterback in this draft.
Jordan Palmer has flown under the radar for a while now... the Senior Bowl will be his coming out party and (unforntunately for Cowboys Fans) he will become the #3 QB in this years draft
Kolb isn't nearly on the level of Cutler talent-wise. He'd have to be flawless to even sniff the first round a la Cutler.
The same could be said of Palko, but on top of that his arm strength is weak and his intangibles are questionable at best. The kid's a hothead with nothing remarkable about him.
Stanton looks to me to clearly be the one with the most to gain. His physical tools are the best at the camp and he should really stand out.
Haven't ever watched Trent Edwards play unfortunately, but I've watched all the others pretty extensively.
The Senior Bowl is missing out by not having Nevada's Jeff Rowe there. He is as good or better the athlete than all of the aforementioned QB's. He will be at the combine and will emerge as the best kept secret no one knew about.
