Broncos to make an offer for Lions' pick

According to a radio station in Denver and ProFootballTalk the Denver Broncos have offered their first-round, second-round, and third-round pick in the 2007 draft and their first-rounder in 2008 for the Lions first round pick (No. 2 overall).

The Broncos are obviously interested in
Calvin Johnson and this trade won't happen if the Raiders select Johnson with the first pick in the draft or trade the pick to the Bucs who would select Johnson.

That is just stupid. Sure Calvin Johnson will be a great player maybe even a hall of famer but why would the Broncos offer so much? Its not like they need a receiver THAT badly. Rod Smith, Javon Walker, Brandon Marshall. I mean come on its not like they are a receiver away from winning a Super Bowl. What they may do is draft Peterson, but then why move up to #2. This just makes no sense, even a great player isn't worth that much value. Also the Lions would be picking 21st which with all those picks is great but they don't get there perimeter pass rusher like Gaines Adams. This trade makes no sense for either side, but if I'm the Lions I do it if just to trade up.

Way too much for a wideout, especially with a draft as deep as this one in WR's. This does not sound like something Denver would do as they can be pretty conservative on draft day. Dallas.........maybe, Oakland......yes......but not Denver.

This is great for the Loins. You get a TON of picks from the Broncos and have the amunition to pretty much trade to where ever you want in this years draft. Not to mention still have picks left over. Millen should be charging his cell phone battery to field calls from the other 31 teams in the first round of the draft.

Horrible deal for the Broncos. Their need as WR isn't that bad to give up your whole first day of picks. Sure I would like to see Johnson in a Broncos uni, but for that kind of ransom I will pass.

This is a great move for the Lions. They can pretty much trade back into any spot they want and still have picks left over. Millen should be charging his cell phone battery for the calls he SHOULD be making after this tade is made. From #2 and back to # 7 or 8 to take Brady Quinn which is the right move for them. Then they pick #34 which is pretty much a 1st round pick any way. And wow, millen gets to keep his job.

Cutler to Johnson for the next ten years trumps most of the next two years of the upcoming drafts. Not top compare, bit sounds like Montana to Rice revisited.

the broncos want to trade up to get joe thomas, not calvin johnson. they traded foster to detroit and want thomas badly.

Crazy! Shanahan just signed a contract extention, i think three year deal. Denver hasn't been to the big game since 98-99 season, when Johnny Boy took them there. I think they need a good running back. They also need more defensive help. They just cut Al Wilson. The WHOLE reason why they are supposedly throwing all these picks the Lions way is because they are in the same division as the Raiders. Denver HATES the Raiders, and vice versa, and this whole trade of picks to Lions for the drafting of THE best player in this whole flippin draft is just to TICK AL DAVIS OFF!!! That's the ONLY reason! They know whoever the Raiders get will be the #1 pick, and Denver doesn't want the Raiders to bask in any glow, knowing that their archrival, archenemy Denver Broncos is picking right behind them.

There is a rumor that the scouts on the Raiders like the first pick to be Calvin Johnson, Al Davis likes JaMarcus Russell, and Lane Kiffin and his O.C. like Brady Quinn. But it's AL's team, and he wants Russell. Denver wants to OUT DO the Raiders by drafting THE BEST player in this whole dang draft, and that is Calvin Johnson! It's one-upmanship! Getting more glory than your enemy. That's all this is!

think of it this way. mabye coach shanahan is foring somone elses hand like say tampa. say the broncos get the 2nd overall pick. whos to say they dont get compensation like say swaping first round picks and getting like a 2nd and a fifth from tampa. mabye even a first rounder for next year. think about that.

Since when have Denver been conservative on draft day??

Jay Cutler, DJ Williams and Javon Walker are just a few players who were recently aquired by draft day wheeling and dealing.

Expect the unexpected.........

I would much rather have the Broncos trade up for Joe Thomas to protect Cutler's blindside. Besides, you all know how the broncos work, they show interest in one person so they can really pick the person they want. Like everyone keeps saying, the Broncoes do not really need a reciever that bad, so I don't think they are going to trade up for a receiver. Just food for thought.

The Broncos D is overly talented. Javon Walker had one big game, Rod Smith is 52, and Brandon Marshall...If there is one thing in this year's draft, it is speed and depth on D-Line. Carriker may slide, Harrell, Moss, Spencer, Moses, Johnson, Crowder, and Woodley are all possible picks for the Lions if they made the trade. When Gaines Adams is the alternative to these Broncos picks, I don't think it looks so bad. Maybe get an additional second or third from the Broncos next year, if they have it, but nonetheless, not a bad trade.

WOW. That is very tempting as a Lions fan. If Millen has shown anything its his ability to get value out of the late first and early 2nd tound. If you dont want Johnson then take the trade. This also shows how many teams and personnel people are seeing in Johnson. I, personally, think Johnson is Randy Moss with a physical ability. If I am the Lions, I say no to the trade and get the playmaker that we have been trying to get for 5 yrs.

I've read Detroit is high on Willis. If the make the move, you'd have to think they'd try to make a move to move up and grab him. Otherwise, I think Detroit goes with Gaines Adams.

If you believe in the draft pick valuation chart, this offer is not nearly enough value for Detroit to trade the #2 pick.

does ANYONE read the draft value chart? no way are those picks worth the #2 overall. the lions would have to be retarded to pull off a trade like this. although matt millen...

WHAT THE HELL!!!! Hold up, let me calm down. With the draft tommorrow its perfectly normal to hear this type of stupidy. And if this is true the Lions just hit the Lotto. They can get Jarvis Moss at the very least at 21. There is no rookie worth that much thats peyton manning L.T. type value
