You can book this one. The Bears might draft Williams and trade him afterwards to San Diego or trade down with San Diego, but the LAST thing that the Bears want is to see Mike Williams in a Vikqueen uniform.
The ONLY way the Bears don't take Williams is if Brown of Auburn is still on the board and then all bets are off. Cadillac Williams isn't a pass catching back and Cedric Benson's workouts this week were a bust, so they're both out of the #4 slot as far as the Bears are now concerned.
And there's enormous fan pressure to not take Braylon Edwards because the last two Michigan skill guys the Bears took high (Anthony "The A-Trolly" Thomas in the 2nd round and big mouth hot dog David Terrell with the 8th overall pick in the draft), turned into the "Michigan Twin Busts". |

why would the bears trade williams if the took him, WR is still a big need and they could get a steal at RB late _________________ "well, they got X player I wanted but they clearly overpaid" is the battle cry of bitter and ignorant football fans

Same reason the Chargers took Manning then trading him afterwards last year. By selecting Williams you keep him out of the hands of Minnesota and let the draft develope. If San Diego stays at the #12 slot and say Clayton and/or Williamson also go before their pick comes up, the asking price for Williams goes up dramatically.
As for getting a steal at running back late? Anybody not named slacker Cedric Benson would be fine. |
