Quote:
The pair have forged a teacher-student bond, and Justin Smith, a tireless worker who has started 155 consecutive games, said he has been struck by the 6-foot-4, 263-pound rookie's humility and work ethic. "He's come in and he hasn't been like, 'Hey, I'm the seventh pick' or anything like that," Smith said. "He hops right in, gets in line and works. ... Everything I've seen he's just a football guy. He definitely looks the part. I think he'll do a tremendous job out there. If you're willing to work, you're going to have success if you have all the physical attributes. And he definitely has that. I don't see why he won't have a great year."

this is one of those things I would've actually been disappointed not to hear .. considering that Aldon and Justin are both Mizzou alum it just seemed like they'd have a natural jumping off point to get a connection going .. so it's good to see they didn't let that go to waste

Doesn't that just make the Justin Smith look like such a bargain, again? If only Nate had a similar impact on other CBs, people wouldn't question if 6 year contract so much. We can say a lot of bad things on Jonas Jennings, at least he was a good influence on others. That,s all I ask of veteran signings... plus, you know.. performing on the field...

This something I definitely like to hear. One of the things often overlooked and undermentioned when looking at drafts and rookies is how they mesh with the team and the mentors available to make them better.

Work out warriors and stats aside, a good fit is a good fit. Very Happy

Aldon Smith has right to bear arms

Quote:
Talk to any 49er – player, coach, scout – about Aldon Smith, and the conversation immediately turns to the rookie's arms. "He doesn't have to bend over to tie his shoes, that's for sure," Justin Smith said of the 49ers' first-round draft pick. For someone who will make his living in the NFL trenches, that's very much a compliment. Smith's arms are both a defensive tool and a weapon. They measure 35 3/8 inches from his shoulder to the tip of his middle finger, longer than any other outside linebacker taken in this year's draft. Smith is 6-4 but has a wingspan of nearly seven feet, which is roughly the size of an adult golden eagle. And his arms are made of solid muscle.

It looks like he put on a good 5 to 10 pounds since he was drafted. He looked a bit thin at one point. I cant wait until he grows into his body.

Scary to think he is still growing.. He'll be breaking bones with those battleaxe arms.

Yeah, that was his goal before TC. He wanted to show up heavier, since it's easier to lose weight than gain weight at this stage of the year. He showed up at around 265-270.

49ers' Aldon Smith is a star in the making

Quote:
Aldon Smith, the No. 7 pick in the draft who starred at DE at Missouri, manhandled San Diego's OL in Thursday's 20-17 victory. Sure, Smith played mostly against the Chargers' second string, but a 21-year-old rookie LB isn't supposed to make it look so easy. He had 2 1/2 sacks, seven tackles, four QB hits and two tackles for losses, but it wasn't just his statistics. Watch him play, and you'll see a superstar in the making. Once he learns his new position and gets some experience, he could become not only a top-notch LB but also one of the more entertaining ones in the league. Said Harbaugh after the game: "Saw him playing with some passion there, with some emotion. The light's coming on more and more, and (he's) making really good progress."

All great things to hear. I can't wait to see how he performs in the regular season and what he may become once he enters his prime. Very Happy

So happy we got this kid. Hes awsome. I am pumped about his future here. I was hoping for Peterson but I had been saying if we dont get him then I want Aldon Smith an I wanted nothing to do with Quinn. On a side not JJ Watt is a Justin Smith clone.
