Bigs, you're dead nuts on.
I just interviewed three high school graduate children for a job as a driver for my company. $12.75 per hour, health care benies after six months, and 3% matching funds for a 401(K) plan after one year.
Two of them didn't bother to comb their hair and change out of their "street" clothes, and one actually had his cell phone go off during the interview, and asked ME if I could "hang on a minute while he answered the call".
WTF.............. I interviewed a young girl (19ish) for a receptionist job and during the 4 minute interview she said "like" 32 times. Can these kids no longer communicate verbally?

I'm sure you realize this; but the fact that there are a lot of dumb people around, and they go on job interviews too, doesn't mean a generation is lacking at all. It just means that a pretty sizable amount of the population one deals with on a day to day basis are individuals of less than average intelligence.
In related news: It's weird how annoyed I get at these sorts of things.
