I've been a member of FF for a couple of years and I absolutely love the site. Thank you guys for great website! I waste a LOT of time on FF.
My recommendation: Facbook'ing FF
Real-time Notifications that someone has commented where you have commented (not through email, but directly on the site)
And the ability to "like" post.
Benefits:
Traffic on the website would dramatically increase because people would have the ability to respond to post in real-time (instead of having to research for possible replys or flooding up someone email inbox)
Ability to "Like" creates a reinforcement system on the website and who doesn't like be complimented!?
How to do it?
I'm not sure what kind of platform is required to do this - I'm a finance guy - but if resources are in an issue, you can ask facebook for help. I'm sure they would be more than happy to receive the potential access to the several thousands of users that FFs has.
Anyways, thanks again guys. _________________ =) |

This might be interesting, but (if someone with more computer design experience wants to swoop in and clarify, go right ahead) this might bog down servers a good deal and slow FF down wholly. It's not too hard to have a tab in the browser dedicated to a pretty nice thread going on, so real-time notifications might be overdoing it.

The problem with "liking" a post is that it doesn't help discussion at all. There are already posters who simply quote someone, then reply without typing anything else. This form of ghost-posting is essentially the equivalent of a Facebook like. This is a football forum. "Liking" something does not foster discussion, which is what FF is all about.

Somehow, not entirely sure they'd agree to do that... _________________
Healthy Gates >>>> Anyone to play the TE/WR position, ever.
|

I like Facebook
and I like Footballs Future
But they're both fine the way they are.
Sincerely,
guy whose posts would get no likes on here |

It is possible. There is a forum I go to about Football (Soccer) Manager that has their forum totally incorporated with Facebook. You can connect to the site through Facebook Connect, you can like a thread through Facebook. Also you can like specific post and stuff similar to what you do on FB and get a notification when someone likes your post. Personally, I don't really see a benefit in that. However, it is quite neat. _________________

There are two issues with this idea
1) The current software that the site uses doesn't support this feature
2) Webby is strongly against members posting personal information on the this site and the web as a whole. What he can control on this site he does. Especially since that info could be used against you in real life. |
