Coker was majoring in Astrophysics, so he isn't dumb.

I guess I need a new signature.

He's calling the RBs dumb because of their decision making, not how well they do in school.

Exactly.

Wheger became a dad a couple of times, McCall went to Facebook to voice his displeasure for his lack of PT, and Coker was a suspect in a sexual assault case. Use your head and don't put yourself in positions to get in trouble like this. They have an opportunity that people would kill for, and they blow it away.

Hawkeyes search for DC is classified above Top Secret...yes? Anybody heard anything on this topic that carries some weight? Something outside of Phil Parker and Tom Bradley?

Nope, I figured they already hired Philly Parker already.

No word whatsoever.

I was thinking earlier it had to be PP but if it is why are they taking so long to announce?

Also, we bagged an Iowa rb, Barkley Hill

Hearing all kinds of rumors today that Giants LB coach, Jim Herrmann will be the new Iowa DC.

Surprising hire, if it's true.

Anyone feel as though this off-season, season, and the to-be (2013) Recruiting class will make or break Kirk's future? What I mean is he is going to come in with a new offense/defensive coordinators, and if he builds or doesn't build on this incoming class of recruits, he can get lost in the B10 race...We already saw 3 4* recruits choose to leave at the last minute and the classes are steadily getting worse from year to year...on the flip side, this year, he actually went out and tried to get some speed on the offense.

If the new coordinators are underwhelming and Iowa has another disappointing season, the pressure will be on Kirk.

I disagree about the recruiting classes though. This actually might be the best 3 year span under Ferentz if you go by the star system. The last 3 classes have had 4 4* recruits each (maybe 5 this year if Kozan commits), tons of 3* and relatively few 2*. '08 and '09 had 2 4* players total and more 2* than 3* recruits.

This.

I think this year we will learn whether the offense was always so stagnant and predictable because of KOK or because KF was reigning him in. For the program's sake, I hope for the former.

On a side note I am very excited about Garmon. Seems like a very different style runner than Iowa has usually had and hopefully he can add a new dimension to the offense. With our RB situation he has an opportunity to come in right away and be a major contributor.

Phil Parker has been named Iowa DC.

Ferentz names Parker DC

Darrell Wilson to Secondary coach
Reese Morgan to DL coach.
Levar Woods likely the LB coach...just a guess.

I knew all this screwing around and no news of any sort meant the job was his...still, I was hoping for something. I feel like puking. Crying or Very sad Evil or Very Mad

Likely to hear Brian Ferentz as new OL coach...just a guess again, but that's my guess.

IOWA CITY - Phil Parker wasn't always the frontrunner to become the Iowa football program's new defensive coordinator, but the veteran Hawkeyes assistant crossed the finish line as the "best fit at this given point in time."

So this is what I've seen floating around as a potential coaching staff...

Kirk Ferentz - Head Coach
Tom Moore - Offensive Coordinator / QB Coach
Phil Parker - Defensive Coordinator
Erik Campbell - Wide Receivers
Lester Erb - Running Backs & Special Teams
Brian Ferentz - Offensive Line
A.J. Blazek - Tight Ends
Reese Morgan - Defensive Line
Darrell Wilson - Defensive Backs & Special Teams
Levar Woods - Linebackers

If you're staring at that 2nd entry...yes, it is that Tom Moore, who coached Manning and the Colts.

Via coachingsearch.com

Quote:
Iowa: Former Texas offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Greg Davis has accepted the same position at Iowa.

Thoughts?
