| Quote: | The Minnesota Vikings once again are looking north for competition on their roster.
An NFL source said on Wednesday night the Vikings have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Solomon Elimimian, a Nigerian-born linebacker who was named the Canadian Football League's hardest hitter in a TSN poll of players last year. |

After his first season with the BC Lions in 2010, Elimimian was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie. Elimimian finished the 2011 season with 98 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 interceptions. He played college football for the Hawaii Warriors.
In his senior year with the Warriors, Elimimian recorded 121 tackles and four sacks. By the end of his four years playing for the Warriors, Elimimian held the school’s all-time tackles record with 434 tackles.

Not a bad signing, like one to push Kenny Onatolu or Larry Dean. At this point, he is nothing more than a camp body, but i said the same about Onatolu.
Its nice to see the MN is active among the CFL team's rosters. It is a potential source of talent, no reason to pass it up. |

Hopefully he contributes more than last year's signings.... _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

Elimimian: "It's a great opportunity for me. I'm definitely excited and just thank the BC Lions for the opportunity they gave me two years ago when they brought me in."
"Over the last month, I've been to five different teams, worked out for a number of different ball clubs and, you know, had visits and overall, Minnesota was the first team that I had worked out and had a visit with.
"Overall, you know, I got a chance to meet the coaching staff and I got a chance to talk to the GM and what really impressed me was the fact that he took an interest in me and wanted to get to know me outside of football."
Elimimian joins his old teammate with BC and former Lions receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux, who signed with the Vikings after the 2010 CFL season. The St. Louis Rams and Carolina Panthers were also reported to be interested in the native of Calabar, Nigeria.

Elimimian, #56, is on the right, celebrating with his teamates after winning the 2011 Grey Cup. _________________

| Nice showing of respect by the Eliminator, to sign with the first team that showed interest in him. |

According to reports, Elimimian chose between the Vikings, St. Louis Rams and Carolina Panthers, but not before asking the Lions to make a contract offer Wednesday.
Lions personnel coordinator Neil McEvoy said earlier Wednesday he had not been officially asked to make a pitch to retain Elimimian, named to the CFL all-star team last year, and wasn't sure whether the club wanted to enter in the negotiation process. A short time later, the Lions had formally lost their first player.
