Florida defense was horrid. | You must not watch college football then. Being 20th in points against is not bad. _________________

Fairly certain the slow Big Ten defenses had multiple teams in the top 20 in points against.
Also, people seem to be overlooking the possibility of Diggs going to Maryland. _________________

@ your ignorant vague statements.
If you are talking about total defense:
#1 Alabama
#2 LSU
#3 South Carolina
#5 Georgia
#8 Florida
#18 Vanderbilt
#6 Michigan State
#7 Illinois
#15 Wisconsin
#17 Michigan
#19 Ohio State
#20 Penn State
Total Defense:
SEC Top 10: 5
BIG Top 10: 2
SEC Top 20: 6
BIG Top 20: 6
If you are talking about Scoring Defense:
#1 Alabama
#2 LSU
#11 South Carolina
#16 Mississippi State
#20 (Tie) Florida
#5 Penn State
#6 Michigan
#10 Michigan State
#13 Wisconsin
#15 Illinois
Scoring Defense:
SEC Top 10: 2
BIG Top 10: 3
SEC Top 20: 5
BIG Top 20: 5
Teams in the top 20 in both total defense and scoring defense:
SEC: 4
BIG: 5
If you are talking about Red Zone defense:
#1 Alabama
#17 Mississippi State
#19 (Tie) Arkansas
#4 Michigan
#14 (Tie) Iowa
Red Zone Defense:
SEC Top 10: 1
BIG Top 10: 1
SEC Top 20: 3
BIG Top 20: 2
Teams in the Top 20 in total defense, scoring defense, and redzone defense:
SEC: 1
BIG: 1
But you are right, the BIG doesn't compare to the SEC in defense, at all.
/Sarcasm
I sure hope you are an Alabama fan (or LSU fan), otherwise you have no reason to talk about anything. _________________

Big10 offenses as a whole were the worst i've seen in a very long time, that has alot...all to do with it. Im a big10 fan but you really cant compare the two conferences at the moment. |

The bold is just ignorant. I'm not comparing the success of the two conferences, I'm comparing the defenses in the conferences.
The SEC offenses aren't anything to write home about either.
Scoring Offense (Not sure if this includes ST TD's):
#6 Wisconsin
#26 (Tie) Michigan
#15 Arkansas
#17 LSU
#20 Alabama
Edge: SEC
Total Offense:
#14 Wisconsin
#29 Arkansas
Edge: BIG
Red Zone Offense:
#3 Wisconsin
#10 Ohio State
#4 LSU
Edge: BIG
The top defenses nationally are littered with BIG and SEC teams, while the top offenses nationally are littered with Big 12 and Pac 12 teams (I know, nothing shocking here).
In their bowl matchups:
MSU and UGA both scored at least 30 points against each other.
Florida and OSU both struggled offensively, with Florida scoring most of their points via special teams.
South Carolina-NEB is the only game where there was a significant difference, which can be explained, in part, by USCe's advantage on special teams (edge in KR, PR, and kicking).
While one conferences defenses may be better than the other, it certainly is a very valid and close comparison. _________________

SEC have to dumb down their defenses, so they only have one read, the B1G defenses have extensive playbooks. A lot of SEC players, talk a while to last in the NFL because they are not accostomed to a the larger playbooks. B1G players often don't play early because they have more sophisticated/diverse playbooks. Look over the past 10 years at these so called dominate players from the SEC and why they havn't been much of anything in the NFL, but you always see a player from the B1G in the NFL constantly and will continue to be. _________________ Murray State University Alum: Go Racers
