Do you really think the Pats would take him back? Shocked

I could see them taking him back if he can prove to BB that he's mentally in the right place. The Pats sure could have used him in the Super Bowl this year. I'll bet Tom Brady misses him and with his influence, he could help persuade New England's front office that Moss could be a difference maker for them.

I've seen crazier things, however.

Nope. It was Brad Childress. Chilly cut Moss without even consulting team owner Zygi Wilf. That almost cost him his job right on the spot. As it turned out, Childress stayed for the rest of the year and the team imploded on him.

Pats would do something like that just to shock the NFL, they took Branch back and got Ochostink, so anything can happen. Moss is motivated and it seems a little too perfect of a situation. McDaniels is back and Pats need a deep threat. A motivated Moss and a Gronk, that's an abusive offense.

He's done! He won't be able to get away with running 9s like he used to, don't know why anyone would want this quitter anyway...

Straight cash, homie!

I'm not sure if your serious or not, but people may recall that Raiders Head Coach Art Shell said the same thing about Moss in 2006. The following season, Moss torched the league and broke the all time single season record for touchdown catches. Art Shell was fired. Laughing

Randy Moss is not the player he once was. He has lost a step. At the same time, I think he said it best himself: "Sure I've probably lost a step, but I'm still one of the fastest guys in the league." Even a step slower, he is still a very dangerous receiver.

I dont know how dangerous he is at this point. But I have to believe that a focused Moss, if he puts on his big boy pants, still brings solid value to any passing game.

Just because he is not the greatest athlete in NFL history anymore does not change anything. I guarentee he can run a faster forty than AJ Greens 4.48 or Blackmons 4.5+.

Moss's role is limited now, but he is still dangerous. Double team him deep, and he may be kept in check. But its still a double team. Single team Moss, though, and he will bite you at least twice a game, even if you are Darrelle Revis.

Everrrrrybody forgets. The 2010 preseason, through camp and than the games, was Moss looked amazing, physically. He mentally checked out, and that was the end of the story. Should he mentally check himself back in, I am certain the physical side of it is still more than capable of being an effective player.

You make Moss a part of the 2012 patriots, with Branch or a rookie (Sanu maybe) playing opposite him wide? He will be DEVASTATING.

he should just retire already. Would be embarrassing if he gets cut 2-3 times again because he doesn't have it anymore. he can run a sub 4.4 it wont matter because he is mentally out of it.

I'm really really glad and happy moss is back. I just knew he'd be back........ id said last preseasn he'd be an eagle week one after his retirement announcement. I've seen a lot of positive replies here that are fact based and somewhat fandom.......but the negative comments are just out of hate for moss.

Anyone who's a reeeaal fan of moss knows he's a mercenary and his demands are winning team, decent qb or even average qb, a coach he can respect and pay him what he feels he's worth. The 2011 season was basically a vacation (vick and plaxico took a two year vacation each). As you say elitetexan, he said he made some "adjusments in his life" and for him to admit that openly is a big plus. He might be a bit more humble and had time to clear his head while away. Too many people are so in love with negative news with moss and just want him to fail. And also don't make the assuption he's broke and need money. Moss is a business man and very "frugal" I've read and he saves his money. He also has his nascar team. With all that said he might not care too much for a big contract and as he says "I just want to play some football"

And please shut up with the "he's 35 years old".......so....but he's still randy moss. A slow randy moss is still fast. Id say he's no longer randy moss fast but now calvin johnson fast....and that's fast!!! This man has one of the sickest off season workouts and his body has been well rested and free of hits and beatings and his legs are fresh. You cant compare a 35 year moss to an average 35yo wide out. Its stupid. Moss is instantly faster. He's not called "the freak" for nothing. And please don't come with the "all he does is run 9 routes" which is false and a recycled quote by the media who moss dislikes. There's a difference between being THE BEST EVER at 9 routes and can't run other routes. In 2009 vs miami, moss ran a drag underneath route and turned it into a 73yd td. He just do what he's asked to do and since he's 6'4 with long arms, usain bolt speed and hops like a ninja, coaches fell in love and said "just go deep". If you were a coach and had randy moss, don't lie- you'd ask him to go deep most of the time too. WHY THE HECK NOT???!!!

Elitetexan, id love for moss to be here opposite andre too but you already know people here are kinda down on matt schaubs arm and ability to bomb it deep. A smart move would be to sign jason campbell as a backup so if matt goes down, we would have a decent backup with starting experience.

The pats, I would not be shocked at all with josh mcdaniels back and he made magic with brady and moss in 2007 and worked wonders with matt cassel in 2008 and moss still had 1000yds 11tds. .

Other teams I feel would be a great fit......

Lions- megatron plus the freak= megafreak!!! Or freakatron

Panthers- cam newton revived steve smith career, he can do the same for moss. Cam could go on to pass for 4700yds with moss added on

Eagles- a team moss did flirt with in 2008 in free agency. But the combo of vick, desean, shady, maclin and moss won't scare anyone it they don't fix the offensive line

Now I don't think moss will put up 1500yds 17td and just because he won't or don't doesn't mean he sucks. That's the problem people have with superstars. They suck if they no longer put up superstar numbers so you can't give moss superstar expectations........

60rec 900yds 10tds is what I expect moss to produce in 2012

Moss never in his life had anything close to Usain Bolt speed.

And I don't want him in Carolina. Despite all the nice things you have to say with him, there are still legitimate concerns about the guy's lockerroom persona. I don't want to get in the middle of a rough stretch and have the guy blow things up, especially with a young quarterback. Besides, I'd much rather give the playing time to the young receivers on the roster to let them develop. While it's conceivable that Carolina could be in the playoffs next year, it's likely an outside shot at best. There's still work that needs to be done. You don't rebuild by signing 35 year old wide receivers when you're not in "must win now" mode.

Doesn't Steve Smith have legitimate concerns about his lover room persona as well? Wink

As long as you arent the guy he is punching in the eye every 3 or 4 seasons, you love the guy. Laughing

He's the heart and soul of the team.

But I agree with my compatriot. I dont want Moss in Carolina. I dont want him anywhere near Cam Newton.

Childress was fired, mainly because of the Moss situation, with at least three games left in the season.

Leslie Frazier was made the head coach then.
