Why does it have to be Routt that is moved inside? Why not Flowers or Carr?
I think Flowers could be Woodson-esque in the slot. |
If that's the plan, I see that working out well...but Routt doesn't belong anywhere near the slot or zone... |

With more than $52 million of contracts tied up in CBs Brandon Flowers and Stanford Routt, expect KC to let Brandon Carr walk |
That's how I see it. They know Carr is going to leave to go be 'the guy' somewhere else, so they got a back up plan in Routt. They didn't get better, but they protected themselves from getting worse and thin at CB. _________________ 2017 - In Zimmer We Trust.

See: LONG Speed, his short area quickness is tops in the league(a hundredth of a second slower then Revis' 10 yard split) so I don't see an issue. |

Why couldn't the Chiefs Tag Carr then trade him? I'm not sure what his value would be, but you could imagine they could get a 2nd rounder (I don't think a first is realistic). _________________

I know I have heard that it is not intended for that. Second, If no team wants to pay that amount (I'd assume near 10 Mill) then the Chiefs are stuck with it. _________________

Sigh ... Wanted him out of the AFC West. I am a big fan of Routt's. Love his competitve, aggressive nature and I think he is one of the better man coverage CB's in the NFL. _________________

Flowers + Carr + Arenas + Routt. Sick.
I don't expect it to happen though. _________________
Healthy Gates >>>> Anyone to play the TE/WR position, ever.
|

That's exactly what the Patriots did to the Chiefs with Cassel, and Jared Allen left KC in a similar fashion.
From the GM Pioli's presser:
"We are excited that we were able to come to terms with Stanford," General Manager Scott Pioli said. "He is a talented player, and as we have said in the past, we are always looking to add competition at every position year-round. Stanford’s experience and level of play will make him a solid addition to our defense."
Is this eluding to keeping Carr? |

I didn't say you are not allowed to. I said it is frowned upon. _________________

And risk losing Bowe? |

Bad news for teams needing a Receiver...Means they will likely F-Tag Bowe (also rumor that Stevie gets Tagged too). _________________

If both Johnson and Bowe are tagged...that means the asking price for the likes of Vincent Jackson, Mario Manningham, Robert Meachem, DeSean Jackson, Marquis Colston and Reggie Wayne just went up.
Bowe was considered one of the top three FA WRs (Depending on where you'd rank either one of the Jacksons or Wayne) and him being plucked off the market means that the asking price went up for one of the bigger names. Same for Johnson, who stood to make a lot of money on the open market.
I think the interesting money is going to be for Manningham, who is fresh off of one of the most difficult catches on the last drive of the biggest game of his life. He's been productive for the most part, and that grab showed that he can be depended on to make a big play when the game is on the line. Even though he's not the most talented name on the list, he's probably due a bigger deal than more talented players, just because of that play. _________________

Revis has no business playing in the slot, he's much better on the outside. |
