Per league source, Packers agree to terms on two-year contract with TE Jermichael Finley. Details coming at PFT.

Dancing

2 years, $15 million

Interesting that this deal happens just a few hours this story comes out:

http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/02/22/jermichael-finley-tight-end-or-wide-receiver/

PFF looked at Jermichael's alignments on the football field and whether he is a wide receiver or a tight end. They came to this conclusion:

Quote:
In every measurable category Finley should be considered a wide receiver for the purposes of the tender.

TE tender # - $5.5 million
WR tender # - $9.4 million

I think an arbiter would have ruled in Jermichael's favor given the evidence at hand.

I really like the deal. It's a "prove it" deal, and won't leave Jermichael satisfied. He has shown enormous potential but is also frustratingly inconsistent.

According to Tom Silverstein, Jermichael will make $5.75 million in 2012 and $8.25 million in 2013. That equates to $14 million and there are some limited incentives in the deal.

Does this mean the Packers now tag and trade Flynn?

I wonder how many years we're going to hear this about Finley?

NO BUT THIS IS THE YEAR HE BLOWS UP.

Knowing Finley, he literally will explode. Into one thousand tiny pieces of awesome.

Seems like a large amount given the franchise number is much less 7.5M, but it is only 2 years. Hopefully this is the year he takes off

Hopefully we get JerMike from the 2009 playoff game for the next 2+ years.

It's basically a split between the WR and TE franchise numbers.

Every team has this type of player... "ohhh he's gonna do great this year", and he doesn't.. But Finley actually shows long stretches of it, but has been so inconsistent.

Did anybody really expect him to leave Green Bay? Good resigning.

What, your crazy for not liking the 2011 version of him in the playoffs. Laughing

He seems crazy inconsistant. This type of deal will make him only want to prove himself as a great player in this league, and if he fails, well then its not the biggest loss for the Packers.

Win-Win.
