Quote:
the wide receiver turned down a five-year contract offer from the Colts recently, raising the likelihood that he will hit the open market on March 13th Garcon had a career-high 70 catches and 947 yards last season, his fourth in the NFL

There's still a chance that the Colts will sign him but is looking more bleak after this, Pierre Garcon despite his drops issue almost had 1000 yards with the worst stable of quarterbacks in the NFL throwing to him. It'll be interesting with all the fa talent at WR including fellow teammate Reggie Wayne to see where he lands and how much he get's paid if he chooses to leave the Colts.

looks like he knows that Manning won't be a Colt, and would rather try and hit the open market instead of playing for a losing team with a rookie QB.

I'm not a huge fan of Garcon, but I'll never forget that sick catch he made against Washington at my first and only ever professional football game experience

Haven't watched a Colts game in awhile outside of when they played us but isn't he an excellent route runner with his only issues being inconsistent hands? If he can get over that, I think he'll be a good signing for whoever gets him. Jacksonville would be a nice landing spot or Tampa Bay.

I think I would rather give him a large contract than Vincent Jackson.

I think he can be a solid number 2 WR in the league. He is worth $5-6M in my opinion. I think he goes to a playoff contender like New England though.

I wonder how much money Garcon was offered. I knew Indianapolis would try to retain him as he's young and thus will be a key player for them in the future unlike an aging Reggie Wayne. But I can understand why Garcon wouldn't want to spend his prime years on a rebuilding team and instead join a contender. If the Colts fail to retain him, I wonder where he'll end up.

If I'm not mistaken I heard he wanted a Sidney Rice type contract.

Why would the Pats want a mediocre route runner with inconsistent hands? That's pretty much the opposite of what they look for.

Thats funny since he's never had a 1000 yard season and hasn't come close to Sidney Rices '09, and thats with playing for Peyton Mannings Colts.

Actually the Colts offered him a Sidney Rice type contract and he rejected. Either he wants more than Rice is getting (which is ridiculous), or he really wants to get out of town.

Adam Shefter suggested that the Colts offer was more along the lines of a Nate Burleson deal (5 years/$25 mill) and that Garcon was likely looking for a Sidney Rice type contract (5 years/$41 mill).

Why?
VJ is elite, Garcon is not close.
