Yeah, because TT hasn't NEVER, EVER spent money a DB before, right? I'm not saying this to argue that TT is going to sign Landry, but he has spent money in the secondary before.

Yeah, I think I'd rather have Peprah right now. |
Whoa! That's the worst insult you can give someone! |
Peprah, though bad, is at least cheap. _________________

No, apparently Dom Capers thinks he's okay. _________________

I think he is fine. Not a starter but a good back up. I don't like him at FS though, SS he is fine. _________________

Problem is that we essentially run a two FS defense. _________________

Let's us be honest here, in the NFL now there isn't much difference between a FS and a SS. Nick Collins give us more of a "ball hawk" back there though and that gives our DB corp another element. I don't think it matters if Pep or Burnett play FS or SS. It matters that Nick isn't back there. JMO
Edit: also you can argue that we run a 3 FS defense the way Woodson plays CB _________________
Drive off into the sunset, you brilliant bastard.
|

And thats the problem, Peprah would be fine as an in the box safety in 2002, unfortunately those days of running the football are gone. _________________

Well actually That's one of the things that hurt us the most on defense this year. You need to be able to rotate either way in a cover three. You cannot be safe with Charlie back there in the deep third, that's why when Morgan Burnett/Nick Collins are back there they can either be rotated into the deep third. _________________

on the topic of Washington safeties, I'm surprised that Landry is the one people are talking about. Atogwe seems a much better fit for the way we do business..
edit: if Collins were to find out he can't play anymore, Atogwe would jump to the top of my list of players-to-consider. Rumor is Washington will cut him, and he should be a cheap fill-in type player who could hold us over until next seasons draft (not many good safeties available this season) _________________

I know people have tossed around Carriker a lot, but what's the deal with Luis Castillo? Could he be a rotational type DE that we bring in? _________________

I think hes fine for his role (provides solid depth as a backup)... but hes been put into situations outside of his role for the last 2 years now thats have magnified his weaknesses.
then fans get mad cause we dont have a probowler at backup when someone like Burnett or Collins get injured |

Atogwe was dumped by the 'Skins today. From my memory, he has the skillset to be effective in this defense if Collins cannot return.
1. When do we hear from Collins?
2. What sort of interest would Atogwe generate in FA?
3. Would he be a good fit in GB if the money is right? (will the money be right?) _________________

I really want Atogwe if Collins is even iffy. Had a rough year last year but was hampered by injuries. I think he can bounce back to his old form. _________________

Had a thought...maybe Dallas Clark could be brought in on a one year deal. He's still a talented receiver, and I know we had practically acquired Tony Gonzalez until that trade fell through. I think having a vet like Dallas around would only sharpen Finley's outlook.
I'm not a huge fan of the player as he is now, but he'll come cheap and I really think a vet could straighten J-Mike out. _________________
