Gnat, since I had the Pats first pick in this I need to suggest you a player. Clemson's Andre Branch would be a great pick here and fills a big need for the team as a pass rusher that can play both 43 DE and 34 OLB. I almost took him at #27.

So here is the deal.
I will lock the Draft thread, once The Giants make their pick. I will send out PMs in the morning to find another time to get this going and we will block out another chuck to get more rounds completed. Discussion thread remains open for others to critique/give suggestions for future picks and general feedback.

They've taken a ton of risks in the draft. We've drafted guys with injury problems and guys with questionable character. They say they want to be active in free agency and don't do much. At this point they need to back up their words with actions.

As of right now, they're all talk

I'm talking specifically round 1, which is where they said they want to remain relatively safe. Both Haden and Phil Taylor were somewhat safe picks (though Taylor surely came with a work ethic concern). Both 1st rounders have been impact guys for your team and I just wanted to follow that philosophy.

I had a blast doing the first round, can't wait to get this going again.

I do not see any way that the Jets pass on DeCastro to take Upshaw.

I would hate it if the Giants went RB in the first

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm only here to tell all of you what's going to happen in the future. This is pretty much bullet-proof prophecy at its finest.

Just noticed Curry went in the 1st and over Branch... Shocked What was your thought process there IAS? I wouldn't even take Curry at #45, let alone 28.

Quote:
No pass rush means no pressure on the Quarterback, something we lacked last year. Melvin comes in and can play a role similar to that of Aldon Smith, from the previous year. Standing up at OLB on 1st/2nd downs, and with his hand on the ground on 3rd downs.

Not the greatest explanation of to drafting Ingram. Over the last 9 games of the season the Cards finishes tied for 3rd in the NFL in sacks and over the entire season their 42 sacks ranked 7th= in the NFL.

Makes even less sense when you think about the fact that Arizona has two young OLB's who they beleive are both starting Caliber in O'Brien Schofield (Who is now 24 months removed from shredding his knee and back to as close to 100% as he will ever get, and has had offseason surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff he played the entire 2011 season with.) and Sam Acho, who in limited time in 2011 racked up 7 sacks as a rookie.

Cards will likely draft the guy who is highest on their board, with needs taken into account in that board. I see now way at all, ever that the Cardinals would pass on DeCastro at that stage, especially with their dire need for a starter at the RG position.

Agreed with MaddHatter on this one. As a rush linebacker, Branch is the better prospect. He's got longer arms and appears to have better explosion.

Not to mention he can get low and turn a corner far better than Curry

Interesting pick for the Rams there...well maybe not so much with how the board looks.
