| Quote: | Cornerback Dominique Foxworth has been elected as the new president of the NFL Players Association, says Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal.
The vote was unanimous, according to Mullen.
Foxworth succeeds Kevin Mawae, whose term expires, in part because he retired in 2010 while he was still NFLPA president. |

So glad Foxy got the nod for this. Doesn't hurt that he's a UMD alum
But in all seriousness, dude is really smart, and seems poised to have a really successful post-football career. _________________

He also was very professional with the lock out issue, very involved and though it may not be important very well dressed. I'm sure those factors played a huge role in how other players viewed him, as he is their representative now. _________________

He had always said he wanted to go into politics after his career. And actually, the lockout and his involvement in it lead to his career essentially ending. He did not rehab his knee as much as he should have which is why he spent 2 entire seasons on IR due to his ACL tear in June 2010.
I'm happy for him though, I know this is something that he's very passionate about and he'll be a good leader. _________________

Who would of thought the guy I met like 6 years ago in high school would end up being the NFLPA President down the road?
Small world.
Well congratulations to him, definitely a very classy and deserving individual. I'm sure he'll be a great leader. _________________

Seems like the right guy for the job. As much as people loved the late Gene Upshaw, he didn't come off as the best from a business perspective. He was like that mobster/teamster guy who used threats of violence to get his way. In today's NFL - where it's a billion dollar industry - it behooves the NFLPA to find someone who can operate with tact in the meetings, someone who can negotiate on behalf of the players and doesn't resort to "wringing someone's neck" (as Upshaw was accused of threatening when he was head of the NFLPA). _________________

Would've loved to have gotten the opportunity to play that Western Tech squad. Unfortunately, I was 6 years behind him for my school.
But anyways, congrats to Domonique for being such a fine leader and representing the city of Baltimore nicely. I hope he's able to rehab his knee and get back to playing at 100%. _________________

I would have been as shocked hearing this as I would have stumbling across a thread saying "Vince Wilfork get liposuction, moved to WR." I never saw this one coming. But hey, good for him. As sports fans, we never noticed his resume, but now that I see it I'd say he's well equipped for the job. Good for him. _________________
