Will he be academically eligible to play once the season starts? If not it is a waste of time…

Doubt it.

Remember when Strollo was the weak point of the staff and probably couldn't recruit (I believed this, fwiw)

and now he's spearheaded the charge for Sickels and Mahon. Maybe those initial reports were a little off base

Improving. The new staff has made up ground, but it will be a battle for him.

Rumor is Maryland QB, Danny O'Brien, who has two years of eligibility left, is on campus today. DOB and BOB has a nice ring to it. Smile

It appears the 31st is the next big day to watch, with David Williams, Switzer, Matt McGlinchey, and others on campus, along with a couple of kids that are already committed.

Bill confirmed that Danny O'Brien informed the program he is interested in potentially coming to Penn State. That doesn't mean he is coming, but we're certainly in the running and I'd say given our momentum, it wouldn't be a long-shot that he did wind up in Happy Valley.

DOB's visit apparently went very well. Don't be surprised if he is a Nittany Lion by the end of the month. Wisconsin has turned their attention to the QB transfer from Kansas, I would infer that's as a result of our strong position with O'Brien. Honestly, it's starting to look more like a longshot if he doesn't end up in Blue and White.

PS- It's Mike McGlinchey.

Personal opinion: I'd rather have Curt Warner at RB over Ki-Jana.

Also, my LB core would consist of Jack Ham, Poz, and LaVar. Sad that our best QB is a true toss-up between Kerry Collins, Mike Robinson, and Todd Blackledge.

Honestly, I had more trouble at tackle. We had three guards who were multiple 1st team AA, yet at tackle we only had one guy who was a multi-1st team AA. A lot harder. Eventually went with Brown.

Also, there's that Shorty Miller guy who's in the HOF. That was the year Ohio State forfeited in the third quarter. Given, that was also 1912 or so.

Time to step up the pressure on Johnson. If we lose our top OL prospect to Pitt...

However, PSU would love to solve its quarterback issues in 2012 and 2013 with one move: landing former Maryland starter Danny O'Brien, who was in State College for the second time meeting with the coaching staff and taking in practice on Monday while wearing a Penn State jacket.

No, he has immediate eligibility and would solve the QB position for both 2012 and 2013. Doesn't matter anyways, he chose Wisconsin:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7747397/danny-obrien-transfers-wisconsin-badgers

Quote:
Wisconsin has added another coveted quarterback transfer, as Danny O'Brien will suit up for the Badgers.

The team on Tuesday announced the signing of O'Brien after the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported his arrival. Because O'Brien graduated from Maryland in three years, he will have two seasons of eligibility at Wisconsin and can play right away.

Sucks. He would have instantly ended our half-hearted QB competition.
