We had an excellent free agency thread last year that was started near the end of the season and I had a random tidbit I had to post that isn't worthy of it's own thread, so I thought I'd get a generalised one going to go hand in hand with the college prospects one(could we have a sticky please mods)

We have six DT's in McBean, Jarmon, Siliga, Unrein, Vickerson, and Warren.

However, starting capable DT's = zilch Embarassed

Warren if healthy is starting capable, but given his history I would be worried about counting on him to be healthy.

I find it a little ironic that Peyton's injury history is dismissed but Warren's follows him ...granted, Warren has had more impactful contact over his years in the NFL, but he has had 18-24 months to fully recover.

I think the difference is that Warren missed all of 2010 with an injury from camp, then missed all of 2011 also from an injury in camp. Not to mention cutting both the 2008 & 2009 seasons short because of injury.

I honestly forgot we even had Kevin Vickerson... Who is a pretty serviceable DT. But after losing all that weight last summer he was getting pushed around like crazy. It was pretty stupid of him to take away the trait that made him so tough to deal with. Hope he put back on some of that weight.

Also heard the Broncos were interested in Amobi Okoye... Who is honestly the only FA DT out there right now worth playing. I also like Sammie Lee Hill, but i believe there is a 4th round tender on him. Which i would easily give up. Very promising DT that is only 25 years old.

I'm pretty worried if we are going to be counting on a rookie to be our starting DT, and hope he doesn't suck...

Amobi is the only FA our there with any pass rush moves, not the only one worth signing.

Aubuaro (SP) Franklin, Antonio Garay and Shaun Rogers can all be cheap, effective run stuffers.

Theirs no excuse for not signing one of the above run stuffers, as all will probably accept a 1 year deal for peanuts.

Correct. Plus if we're comparing him to Peyton. Peyton has had one serious injury to Warren's two and Warren has also had other injuries prior to that whereas outside of the neck issue Peyton has had a completely clean bill of health. Finally Peyton is a QB that gets rid of the ball quickly and generally avoids contact. Warren is a DL who is constantly fighting off blockers and trying to make a play. A big difference in terms of injury risk.

I hope Warren is healthy this year, but to count on it would be foolish. Peyton on the other hand you have to count on to be healthy because if he's not our season could easily look a lot like the Colt's this past year (although hopefully not quite that bad).

I'm a huge Amobi fan for the lone fact that he is only 24. That is the age of more than a handful of rookies and he has 5 years under his belt.

He get's good rush and at the least has a nice spot in a rotation.

ive had aubrayo franklin on my mock and why not get okoye and franklin, as one is a more of a run stuffer and the other a pass rushing DT....can probably get cheap, and have okoye, franklin, thomas, warren, and add a Still or worthy
