Read that zach brown's stock has been dropping. Seen in a couple mock drafts that he could drop mid to late second round. If he's there by our second round pick, would you take him?

I'd consider him in round 2. He's a really good player. Perfect fit for our scheme.

Isn't he a WLB though? If we are taking a LB that early I would prefer it be one who should see the field sooner than 3 years from now. I like him though, and if he can play SLB for us in the short term I would consider it.

He could play all 3 spots for us.

Walter Football doesn't have him being drafted until 62 by the Giants.

He is a great athlete…but he lacks instincts and hates contact…IMO he couldn’t step in and start at SLB this year because his skill set is limited to the WLB spot.

How is he in coverage? Can he cover a TE and set the edge on strong-side runs?

His instincts aren’t great in this area either…can often be held on a spot by the QB eyes and will let his man get some separation…but he has the athleticism to make the ground up on most TEs & RBs which leads to him breaking up passes and getting INTs…he has 4 PBUs and more importantly 6 INTs over the last 2 seasons (7 in his career)…

When it comes to setting the edge it’s his biggest weakness IMO…he isn’t the type of guy who is going to shed a block and force a play back inside and that’s what I worry about with him playing SLB…in this scheme the SLB does the dirty work of taking on blockers and letting Briggs and Urlacher scrap over the top and flow to the ball…Brown isn’t going to take on those blocks and even if he toughens up and does I would expect most OTs to simply man handle him…even TEs will take him backwards…

If we needed a WLB who was going to be a pursuit sideline to sideline guy then Brown would be ideal…but we already have Briggs for that role and a 2nd round LB isn’t a good idea to develop when we have other needs…

That said if Emery is true to his word and is looking for “MEN” then Brown certainly looks the part.

Certainly worth considering. Our D needs to get younger at all stages and if he's a perfect fit for our D, he must be considered.
