I don't see it worse then any other criticism. Why post in a forum if you can't handle people not liking what you have to say? I don't use the eyeroll personally but on numerous occasions I have posted "this post is abysmally stupid" as a response.

I don't care if somebody says I'm stupid, I can handle that.
But that smiley makes me want to reach into my screen and physically assault the poster.

Honestly, I don't think we have the capabilities of removing a single emoticon. The phpBB format comes with some pre-set Emoticos that are not removable...and as one of the initial 20, it would have to stay.
I don't like it much either, but oh well...
