If he renegotiates and doesn't expect 7 mil a year at 29 I'd send one of our compensatory picks for him.

One of our regular picks then (#123 I think). We got three 4th rounders already.

Just depends on how much you value 1000 yards rushing and a couple hundred receiving yards. The guy gets 1000 yards every year despite injuries and playing behind the worst offensive lines in the league. Its not always efficient because of the poor blocking, but he gets there.. despite playing in countless situations where his team is down and passing the ball regularly. I think he has one or two more years of being a 1000yd guy.. and with only 4 mil guaranteed on his contract, I think that is a decent deal. He never gets impressive TD numbers, but we have also been the worst redzone team in the NFL since he was drafted. Though I will admit the goal line situations are not on his list of strengths.

I doubt anything happens though. We should only trade him if we get Trent Richardson, and I HIGHLY doubt Richardson falls to #6. I would feel less comfortable relying on a 2nd round guy like Doug Martin or David Wilson.

I wouldn't trade him unless we could get a 4th rounder, and I doubt many teams come calling to offer that, if any.

Really don't know what to think of this, as a Rams fan, I will be sad watching Steven go as he has worked his butt for this franchise. However he has been declining slowly and getting small injuries here and there forcing him to miss games. Probably purely a business decision for the Rams and Steven Jackson wants to go to a contender for his last years. Wouldn't be surprised if the Rams try to move up with Cleveland to land Richardson.

SJAx and the 6th for the 4th and a low round pick?

What? I wouldn't trade 4 to 6 for Sjax, let alone add on an extra pick. Sounds like some St. Louis fantasy, especially considering we wanted to trade up to St. Louis' pick when they were at 2, now we should give them a favorable deal to take on an over paid HB in the twilight of his career? Ummm... NO

not to mention them moving down and missing on one of the best RB prospects in years in Richardson. Yeah, please ignore that comment. 99% of Rams fans realize Jackson's actual value.

How many disgruntled players have been upset with their contract and had rumors spread about trades.. then how many actually get traded? The Rams won't get Richardson, and then all this talk will go away. I'm sure Jackson just wanted to raise a bit of a fuss because he feels he is going to get Faulked (i.e. what happened to Faulk when Jackson was drafted, and a funny punn Very Happy ).

Rams haven't had a winning season since they drafted him. Made the playoffs his rookie year with an 8-8 record and even beat the Seahawks, but outside of that it's been nothing but losing. Feel bad for him, i've always respected him as a worthy opponent. He's done as a starter but i hope he can go to a winning team and contribute.

That would be a pretty good deal IMO.

Rams already had a chance to "move up" to 4 to get Richardson. That boat has sailed.

I'd agree Holmgren did seem a bit salty about losing out on RG3 and I doubt he would want to trade with us, but I think we will at least put in an offer.

lolwut

?? Care to post an actual reasonable response? Could care less if the Browns get jipped in the deal, as long as its good for the Rams. Obviously the Browns would never agree to it, I think they are smarter than that.

if i laugh at a deal proposed by a rams fan that literally has zero chance of happening since its an AWFUL deal for the browns, how is that not reasonable?

hint: it is

Let me elaborate...

4th pick - 1,800
7th pick - 1,500

Figuring in a "late round pick," you're valuing Jackson at a top of the 3rd round pick. Then, figuring in that the team trading up has to give up more, you're basically valuing Jackson at a mid second.

With that contract, plus all those miles, he's not worth that.

Then figure in that the Browns could just stay at 7 and pick Richardson who is much younger, has a lot more upside and will cost a ton less.

It's a horrible deal for the Browns.

I know. I was expanding on what mbtl was saying, for the purpose of better elaborating what he was saying.
