Our picks
1
2
3
4(NYJ)
4
5(STL)
6(NYJ)
I think we might decide against a trade back in the first round.
1. Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
Elway values his pass rushers and will take the best player available, I have a feeling Mercilus might be the guy to slide to our pick. He would slot in at Left End, allowing Ayers to bulk up a little and be purely a 3rd down UT, and since Mercilus is a 3 down DE we could very creative with Von Miller in the nickel set. You can never have enough pass rushers.
2. Jared Crick, DT, Nebraska
Yet another guy that knows how to get after the QB. Crick has health concerns without which he might have been the top DT in the class. He will man the UT in our base front and stay on the field alongside Ayers in the nickel. EXF will be delighted to land a pair of every down defensive linemen with the first two picks.
3. Robert Turbin, RB, Utah State
We finally add something to the offense. EXF prefer more hard runners to flashy backs, Turbin could be a 3 down player down the line.
4A. Ryan Steed, CB, Furman
If Elway is to be believed, it's almost certain we come out of the draft with at least one corner. Steed should be the number 4 CB as a rookie but pencilled in as a starter down the line.
4B. David Molk, C, Michigan
This is a bit like the Eric Olsen pick the other year. Molk can provide cover behind all 3 interior OL spots.
5. DaQuan Menzie, CB, Alabama
I think EXF would like to come away with multiple CBs.
6. Brian Hendricks, OLB, Wyoming
Mostly a special teams signing.
Post draft free agent signings:
Rookie QB Austin Davis
Rookie WR Jordan White
Rookie FB Cody Johnson
DT Marcus Thomas
QB: Manning, Hanie, Weber
RB: McGahee, Turbin, Moreno, Fanning
FB: Johnson
WR: Thomas, Decker, Stokley, Caldwell, Hill, Willis
TE: Dreessen, Tamme, J.Thomas, Green
OT: Clady, Franklin, Harris
OG: Kuper, Beadles, Ramirez
C: Walton, Molk
RE: Dumervil, Hunter
NT: Thomas, Warren
UT: Crick, Garland
LE: Mercilus, Ayers
SAM: Miller, Hendricks
MIKE: Irving, Mays
WILL: Williams, Woodyard
CB: Bailey, Porter, Harris, Steed, Menzie, Vaughn
S: Adams, Carter, Moore, Bruton _________________

I'm leaning the other way. I think there is no "gotta have" player at #25 but there are some good players in the 2nd round that would be as good the bottom of the 1st round.
For example, Denver could trade 1.25 to St Louis for 2.1 and later picks.
Or Miami might want to jump into the first round for a QB if it misses on Tannehill. |

Of all the players I'd like to see Denver land in round, Mercilus is among them. Reason being, I don't think he's that good. One year wonder against some subpar competition in at Illinois. Looks stiff and one dimensional.
Poe, Mercilus, Still are all players I'd feel good about seeing in the AFC west rivalry. Non-threatening prospects. _________________

Agree about Mercilus, half agree about Poe, but I think Still can actually be good. _________________

I'm praying that the Chiefs take Kuechly. So overrated. They should take DeCastro. _________________

I'm 50/50 on Still. Just something about him I can't adjust to liking. _________________

He's a tackling machine. He might be a good piece next to DJ inside. He's not a guy who pops when watching him, but he's a consistent tackler. Looks like a Sean Lee type IMO. _________________

I'll be okay with any non OL-QB. Sure, I might favor someone at the same position over the one they picked but they are the professionals. If they screw up, I can laugh at them. If not, I can praise them.
Luke Kuechley imo would be a wonderful Cover 2 MLB. He's an underrated athlete. A great tackler. He can shed blocks. I think he's the best ILB prospect since Patrick Willis. _________________

I really hope the Chiefs decide to trade up and give up a ton to get Tannehill. Don't want the Chiefs landing DDC, he's going to be goooooooood. _________________ Broncos-Bulls-Cubs-CU-Blackhawks |

I agree with this...If Brockers is there, I could see the Rams moving up, maybe even for a running back as well. It will be interesting but I'd take their 2nd and third in a second in this draft for 25 and our 3rd next year assuming we McDaniels did not mortgage that as well. |

Im with you too. Aside from his glaring weaknesses, Still just has something about him (even though I cant point it out) that I dont like and dont want on this team. _________________

| New to the board. Hopefully we trade back for a high 2nd rounder and another mid to late round pick. Most D linemen this late in the round rate the same as early 2nd rounders. DL is deep this year. Stock pile picks is the way to go. Within the next 24 - 26 hours we shall see. |
