Here's a scenario for all of you:

Let's say Kuechly is there at 12, but the Pats offer 27 and 31 + 128 to move up an select Barron.

What would you do? Draft Kuechly or trade down...

Trade down. I don't even have to think about it.

My ideal scenario is to trade down with the Cowboys or Chargers and have Melvin Ingram fall to us.

Chandler Jones - DL - Player

Both NFL Network's Mike Mayock and Michael Lombardi agreed on Path to the Draft Wednesday night that Syracuse DE Chandler Jones is the best defensive player in the 2012 draft.
"I'm gonna make a statement," said Mayock. "Three years from now, I'm gonna say Chandler Jones is the best defensive player to come out of this draft." Chimed in Lombardi, "I think what Mike Mayock said is right. He is the best defensive player in the draft." Mayock recently bumped Jones to No. 9 overall in his top-100 rankings, and to No. 1 among defensive ends. Lombardi went so far as to suggest Jones could be a top-ten pick.

I like Jones, though admittedly not that much. He's very similar to Aldon Smith coming out, though I think he doesn't have the same overall athleticism that made Aldon special.

The actual statement itself isn't that shocking. This class really isn't that top heavy at defense and there's actually a noticeable amount of risk with just about any defensive player you can name in the 1st round.

For those curious to see other rumors:

- Speculation that Vikings are going Claiborne at #3 and Bucs going Kuechly at #5

- Bengals expected to take Stephen Hill at #21 and Upshaw at #17 if available

- 49ers really want Doug Martin to replace Frank Gore. Also looking at Amini Silatolu in the 1st.

- Chandler Jones expected to go top 15.

- Stephon Gilmore expected to go top 10.

- Teams have stated that Tannehill will not get past #8.

- Apparently a team told Lombardi that they play to take Irvin in the 1st.

- Chargers apparently love Barron and are willing to trade up.

- Panthers really like Quinton Coples

- AJ Jenkins and Mitchell Schwartz have risen to 2nd round grades.

- Teams may be trying to trade up to #5 to steal Cox from the Rams.

- Osi may be dealt for a 3rd this week.

Agreed. But considering Kuechly plays MLB, Chandler Jones could easily be considered better than him just based off of positional value if the two players are close. I personally think Claiborne ends up being the best defensive player from the class.

Made my final mock today. Had us taking Jones at 12 as well. I think Pete likes a challenge...Coples or Jones...and try to get the most out of them.

I don't know about Kuechly at 5. Mayock has him at 6 but still thinks the earliest he goes is 12.

I heard this too and I believe this one is true.

I live in Cincy and I haven't heard this at all. Everyone here is mocking DeCastro and either Gilmore or Kirkpatrick to the Bengals. If the Bengals take Hill, my buddies are gonna be irrate!

- 49ers really want Doug Martin to replace Frank Gore. Also looking at Amini Silatolu in the 1st.

I don't buy it.

- Chandler Jones expected to go top 15.

I don't like him, but I can easily see this happening. I have him going to the Chargers.

- Stephon Gilmore expected to go top 10.

No way. I think he goes no higher than Cincinnati at #17.

- Teams have stated that Tannehill will not get past #8.

True. Teams have said that. Whether it'll happen, we'll have to see.

- Apparently a team told Lombardi that they play to take Irvin in the 1st.

I don't buy it, but stranger things have happened.

- Chargers apparently love Barron and are willing to trade up.

I heard Barron is now a lock to go in the top 12. I have him going to Kansas City at #11.

- Panthers really like Quinton Coples

God, I hope so. I don't want him on the board when we pick.

- AJ Jenkins and Mitchell Schwartz have risen to 2nd round grades.

I thought Jenkins was a marginal 2nd or high 3rd rounder for awhile. I knew Schwartz's stock was rising, but I think he goes in round 3.

- Teams may be trying to trade up to #5 to steal Cox from the Rams.

I don't buy that Cox is gonna go that high. He could even fall to us.

- Osi may be dealt for a 3rd this week.

Way too steep of a price.

Agreed, but I believe Vinny Curry is gonna be the best D-Lineman/OLB.

I guess his value is different in a Tampa 2 scheme like the Bucs where coverage at MLB is essential.
