Latest ESPN "expert's" Mock has us taking Coples at 12. It also has Keuchly falling clear to Cincinati @ 21, so so much for that 'expert'.

I am not the biggest Coples fan, but I trust Pete when it comes to evaluating defensive talent. If he takes Coples...I will be on board.

I'd be perfectly fine with the pick because I know Carroll will get him motivated. Where he would play is a bigger question mark imo.

That is my biggest reservation. He isn't a SLB, he's too big to play LEO, if you play him as a pass rushing DE, he's only gonna come in on passing downs to replace Red Bryant and do you spend a first rounder on a part time player? I'd say no. Then, you could move him to UT, but if you do that, what do we do with Jason Jones? We signed him, with the expectations he'd be the inside pass rush specialist that we've needed. Add all that to the fact that I don't believe he is an elite pass rusher and I'd hate that pick. |
