Just look at the age of our starting offensive lineman into next season. These guys will start to gel together and hopefully not start someone new every week!!

Gilbert (24)-Decastro(22)-Pouncey(22)-Foster(26)-Colon(29)

Btw, Decastro allowed 1 SACK in college!! 1! People yelling to trade up for Mike Pouncey last year, but this time it falls our way with a much better guard. Just got to be patient and let the chance arise. Hopefully, that happens in the next few rounds.

I would not be shocked if they draft another Guard in the late rounds (5,6,7) to compete with Foster.

Oh, and Tomlin said in the presser that DeCastro will play RG.

Both Legursky and Foster were tendered at the lowest possible rate, so you could be right. If I were Colon or Scott, I would not feel too secure though. Gilbert has been promised LT, so I cannot foresee the Steelers getting another LT early, but who knows.

That seems silly to me; DD seems better at pulling than at the point of attack alla Faneca. Then again, we usually start olinemen on the right side first(at least tackles).

The article I read Tomlin said that just because DeCastro played right Guard in college it wouldn't limit him. Left guard is a possibility.

Our 2nd+3rd would move us up to about the 6-7th pick tomorrow. If Glenn is still available, do we move up to get him? I know we need a NT, ILB, etc, but I didn't expect DD or Glenn to be there at our first pick, how great would it be to walk away with both of them!

After staying put and still nabbing DeCastro, we are playing with house money it seems. But, we still have a ton of holes to fill. I think some more guys will fall to us, but ya never know.

We were pretty lucky the first went the way it did. I hope DeCastro is the 2nd coming of John Hannah. Still pinching myself.

i dont know where this comes from, actually he lines up head on and takes his guy out pretty much every single time they need short yardage. Pass blocking may not be as great as his run blocking but there is really no weakness in his run game, thats just picking apart a top prospect to decide whether he deserves his status.

DeCastro is pretty fundamental, you are correct. Mayock mentioned DD lacking perhaps some sand in his pants at the POA and in line blocking. I thought Larry Zierlien mentioned it as well but I believe I'm mistaken.

I don't know what you are talking about when you write...

Too many needs to trade our 2nd and 3rd for another guard. Honestly, I see Colon as a bigger weakness to our line than Foster. I think Foster can be a solid contributor and has good years ahead of him. I think we should let it play out, see if any big players are falling. Hopefully take Chapman or Massie with our pick.

Though DeCastro played exclusively right guard, Tomlin believes DeCastro can swing between either guard spot. He will compete with veterans Ramon Foster, Doug Legursky and Trai Essex for a starting job after the team released veteran Chris Kemoeatu as part of a salary purge.

Our front office must just hate Ramon Foster, when he still has to compete with Essex and Legursky. Every Steelers fan would go crazy if they give Essex the other guard spot!!

Glenn, Brooks, Troy, Washington, Silatouli (sp) and I will be in love with our OL Cool

What I love about the DeCastro pick, he has "no holes" in his game. Wonderful selection. Can be a OG Steve Hutchinson clone. Now on to the 2nd round. Hopefully we can keep this going. Do not slack off lets keep rollin. Now the draft starts, now that the first round is out of the way. This is where your Draft Staff is in "Full Effect".
