Pretty self explanatory imo. How does everyone think our NFC North counterparts did so far?
Minnesota Vikings (4): OT Matt Kalil USC
Grade:A
I don't think the Vikings needed the theatrics that they used, but it was effective. They were able to trade down one spot and still ended up with the right guy. Kalil was the best choice for them here, and they got a few late round picks as well.
(29): FS Harrison Smith Notre Dame
Grade: B
Slight reach here, and they traded up to make that reach, but he fulfills a huge need for the Vikes.
Chicago Bears(19): DE Shea McClellin, Boise State
Grade:D
Huge reach here in my opinion, and I don't think he fits their system that well. I saw McClellin as an early 2nd 3-4 OLB. The good news for the Shea is that with Peppers on the other side, McClellin probably won't be getting too much attention.
Green Bay Packers(28 ) LB Nick Perry, USC
Grade:B
Decent value here, but I heard that Perry wanted to be a rusher who kept his hand in the dirt so I'm not sure how good of a fit he is in a 3-4 system. The nice thing is that with Perry now slotted as the OLB opposite of Clay Mathews, we can stop hearing the excuse for Mathews under performing because there is no pass rusher to take attention off of him. _________________

You forgot Minny other pick. The safety.
Minny gets A for the duo.
Chiacgo gets a C.
GB gets a B- because Perry is so off and on. When he is on its an A talent but his tape looks like C talent. _________________

Minnesota A+, Add More Picks and 2 Players even If Smith is perhaps a slight reach. Kalil on the other hand, no brainer.
Chicago C+, McClellin, I feel was a reach and more suited to a 3-4, Good player but with who was stilll on the board at the position, Im not convinced.
Green Bay B. Perry is excellent value there, Im not his biggest fan personally...but if Perry lives up to his potential that he has shown flashes of, him and Matthews could be a beastly duo.. _________________

I absolutely love what Minnasota did. Smith may have been a slight reach but I think he is going to be a better S than Barron in the long run. Kalil was obviously a good pick given the division and the lack of talent on their O line. I would say they easily had the best first round, even with out tha Harrison Smith pick given the Kalil trade back.
The Bears I dont get. They IMO should have made our decision for us by drafting decastro or reiff, instead they get an undersized DE or oversized LB who cant cover. Definitely a reach, especially for their system.
I also really like the Packs pick. Perry is going to be scary opposite Clay Matthews. Even if he disapears some, he will be a force enough to cause havoc for O lines. When healthy they had a very good defense and adding a pass rusher like Perry to the mix will only make them tougher. _________________

I swear that bears pick smacks of Marinelli......I think he got in someone's ear and was chirping about getting someone with a motor to 'pound the rock and believe in the invisible.
Give Marinelli a couple of years and we are going to see a toothless defense down there full of hustlers with no athletic ability. |

Bears picks are just flat out jokes to me. Perry to the Packers is confusing, but could potentially work out. I like what Minny did, but they were in a position that was difficult to mess up. _________________

Perry is a scary player for the Packers to have, and the Vikings have had a great draft so far.
The Bears' draft is decent. I think Jeffrey and Marshall give Chicago legitimate weapons at WR. _________________

| Dang, the packers are having a good defensive draft. Perry, worthy, Hayward. Surprised they didn't go for a safety. Maybe Woodson will be moving over. |

Thus far, I'd say the Vikings have the best draft, Detroit and GB are interchangeable and too close to call, with Chicago bringing up the rear (easily). _________________

Probably would say the Packers are doing the best.
Not in love with Harrison Smith so I'm not huge on the Vikings draft. Kalil and Robinson are good.
Bears draft seems boom or bust. Can McClellin play DE? A lot had him as a 3-4 LB. Can Jeffrey stay in shape? _________________
