Im liking it. Only 16 starts which might mean he needs time. But I like those Iowa linemen. And under 300lbs he seems to fit perfect. _________________

I like that we are building the interior OL. I am hoping that one of these guys can be relied on if Jamaal Brown goes down. But its nice that the OL is being addressed. _________________

Awesome!! Another guy to add to the zone-blocking o-line.
Very quick feet... extending his arms well but sometimes gets him in trouble. He has a very good burst off the football and moves well in space, takes good angles, and stays low on contact. Very good fit for us.
buttttt Gettis is undersized especially in his upper body.
I remember he had a surprising combine... looking up his info...
EDIT: | Quote: | Gettis’ two unofficial forty times were 4.91 and 5.00, both impressive for a 293-pound football player. He posted the fastest unofficial 10-yard split among offensive linemen, clearing the first quarter of the forty in 1.65 seconds.
Gettis also posted an explosive broad jump, leaping nine feet and four inches from a standing start.
A fifth-year senior, Gettis earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2011. He started 29 games at Iowa, 28 of them at right guard.
With plus athleticism, Gettis may appeal to zone-blocking teams in the later rounds of the draft. At 6-foot-2, 293 with 33-inch arms, Gettis projects as a guard or center in the NFL. | Thanks to ProFootballTalk _________________

We took 3 OL in 2010 (T-Will, Cook, and Capers), 1 in 2011 (I think? Just Hurt, right?), and 2 so far in 2012. Cerrato/Zorn/etc. needs to learn things from Shanahan/Allen. _________________ RIP SuperSkinFan

Info on Gettis
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 293 lbs
Hand: 9.4"
Arm: 31.1"
Combine Results
Cones: 8 secs
Speed: 5 secs
Vertical: 31.5 "
Broad: 112 "
Shuttle: 4.65 secs
Shuttle stands out that's pretty quick for a OG. With the picks , Kory L, and Monty consider the interior officially addressed. Mess around with CB, WR, RB and OT the rest of the way we got us a football team gentlemen! _________________

DNP at combine a report of him only at 20 at Iowa. Hmmm guess that's why he's available in 5th. Strength can be worked on _________________

With his measurements, wouldn't be surprised if the goal is to try to develop him as depth for the center position seeing that there is none currently on the roster. McRib seems more suited to guard anyhow, perhaps they keep Hurt at LG, putting Gettis at C and McRib at RG, and give Cook a shot as the reserve RT. I feel like I've been saying this for a while and now it's looking like it's become truth: if Cook wants to stay on the team, he's going to have to prove he can RT.
Clearly an investment has been made to improve the depth of the unit. _________________
