With our last pick, I really hope we pick either Cam Johnson/Alfonso Dennard/Chase Minnifield/James Brown

That's a decent DE prospect, 2 good CB prospects and a decent OT prospect.

Weird 7th round.

Dennard for me. Schefter said Minnifield was completely removed from some boards to to a knee injury.

aaaaand he's gone.

Janzen Jackson is another option.

Really weird 7th round. A fair few decent prospects left.

Burfict? We don't need a LBer, but Burfict and Wilson blitzing at the same time would be frightening. He also can cover TEs well, according to Mayock. That's somewhere we are struggling.

In the 7th round, I don't mind taking a shot at a physical freak with upside.

I'd take Burfict if we wanted to fill the waterboy role on the team.

Though Shanle might be a little annoyed with that.

Cam Johnson? There are quite a few decent CBs left as well.

OT Marcel Jones

From FFtoolbox:

Quote:
Jones is a tall prospect who could possibly develop into a left tackle after some development. In the immediate future, Jones would fit nicely on the right side. He lacks ideal strength and will need time to blossom into the position. That said, all the potential is there for him to become a starter-level player in the NFL.

Jones is a good run blocker. Given his great size and length, he can dominate at the point of attack even without great strength. When opening his stance off the snap, he struggles most against speed rushers. His girth helps him eat up bull rushes with a decent body lean. The problem comes in having to change direction and consistently get off the line with velocity.

Once coaches really start to work with him, they're going to want to tweak his footwork so he keeps his frame along his center of gravity. Jones has a tendency to lean rather than keep his feet under him. Since he's only ready to play right tackle, it's unlikely he is drafted in the first couple rounds.

From PFW:

Quote:
Positives:

Has stature to block out the sun — big-boned with long arms and a giant wingspan. Has a sturdy base to anchor and thwart a charge. Nice bend and balance. Surprisingly quick out of his stance with a smooth kick slide. As a junior showed he could run Denver Broncos 2011 No. 2 overall pick Von Miller wide of the pocket. Latches on and controls smaller rushers. Has sheer mass and strength to shut down the inside rush. Strong down blocker. Can work his hips around and seal. Able to climb to the second level and pick off linebackers. Good character.
Negatives:

Is tall and can be outleveraged when he lets his pads rise. Heavy-legged and thick-hipped. Struggles to adjust in space. Does not use his hands violently to punch — feels for contact and is not a mauler. Bench-pressed 225 pounds only 13 times at the Combine, the lowest of all offensive linemen. Can do a better job gaining extension and using length to his advantage. Could stand to improve his ability to sustain and finish more consistently. Does not breathe fire. Back stability needs to be examined and long-term durability is concerning.
Summary:

A giant, relatively inexperienced protector with intriguing athletic ability and flexibility, Jones has starter-caliber tools and developmental potential for an effective position coach to mold. Can appeal to teams such as the Cowboys and Cardinals if he checks out medically.

NFP:

Quote:

Isn't asked to pass protect routinely in Nebraska's option offense. Doesn't possesses the range to consistently reach speed off the edge and will get overextended lunging into contact in order to try to engage. Isn't comfortable in space, pops upright, looks tight hipped and doesn't exhibit much laterally quickness. Has the length and power to be stick and anchor vs. the bull rush. However, has a tough time mirroring through contact vs. any type of lateral quickness.

Impression: A good-looking tackle, but is tight hipped and struggles with leverage. His size and initial quicks might give him a shot, but he is going to have a tough time ever fighting for playing time at the next level.

Not bad.

That's the only reason we took him. Wink

I'm certain that will be part of his contract.

What happened to Trevin Wade, CB, Arizona? I really like him and thought he would go much higher. Bringing him or Minnfield in as an UDFA would be great!

Mike Triplett saying Saints view Corey White as a CB who can play Nickel/Dime, not as a Safety as has been reported.

Then I don't like the pick at all. Everywhere I read about him said he's have to move to SS to play in the NFL.
