Scouting Report:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1244779/bj-coleman wrote:
Strengths: Physically imposing and solidly-built throughout his frame with good body strength. Has a strong arm with the ability to easily make all the throws. Has above average zip and velocity on his passes with strong stick throws. Possesses a smooth, quick release with good mechanics that translate well to the next level. Has good mobility to move around in the pocket with the foot quickness to evade pressure and pick up yards with his legs when needed (7 career rush scores). Has strong character on and off the field with natural leadership traits and is known as the consummate teammate. Very coachable and is a quick learner, working hard to improve and hone his craft. A film junkie with
a passion for the game and wants to win. Weaknesses: Almost too thick and appears a bit mechanical in some of his movements, including his throwing motion. Has inconsistent footwork in his drops and passing stance. Displays inconsistent touch on throws to all levels of the field and needs to show a better grasp of when to throw fastballs and when to put some air underneath throws. Shows improved accuracy, but his ball location is still streaky and needs improvement. Played at the FCS-level with average results (52-to-31, career TD-to-INT ratio and only 57.4% career completions) and lacks ideal experience against top competition. Had a tough senior season with only 9 touchdowns in 7 starts and missed four of the final five games with an injury to his throwing shoulder. NFL Comparison: Dan Orlovsky, Indianapolis Colts -- Dane Brugler

Love this kid. All the tools, put him in Mike McCarthy's QB school for a year or two and you might have a starter down the road.

Great 7th rounders IMO. Coleman is an interesting guy. He has a cannon.

Agreed. He can make all the throws. Just needs some time on the bench.

He has to be thanking his lucky stars.

Drafted here, learning from Rodgers and Mac's QB school.

His future looks much brighter than if he were drafted somewhere else IMO.

Great pick, anybody know anything about his work etihc? If he wants to succeed he'll be better than Matty Fire imo.

Yeah .... Hell of a draft. I think TT covered it pretty well. I take it they will add a RB in free agency of some sort, but outside of that I would say they have it covered. Great job ... We all should be happy as hell.

Great pick. Lots more potential than Graham Harrell.

Totally agree. The talking heads won't wax on about the Packers great draft, but screw 'em. Know how you get an "A" in the media's draft grades? Get two first round picks (but they never factor in what you had to give up).

This has been an awesome draft for Green Bay. Traded up a lot, but never gave up too much.

Exhibit A: Atlanta 2011 and Julio Jones.

From CBSsports:

NFL DRAFT TOP QUARTERBACKS: B.J. Coleman, Tennessee-Chattanooga, 6-3, 233...An imposing physical specimen, Coleman has natural leadership skills that are evident on the field and around the locker room. He is capable of doing everything necessary to be a pro QB, but needs to learn how to do it and when to do it. Think of him in terms a very raw Brett Favre, who was pretty raw himself when he came out of Southern Mississippi.

Brick wall
