I really like this. Small school safety with great speed, let that coaching staff lead him in the right way!!! Give him a 36 jersey and watch the Pro Bowls come in masses!

Maybe it is just me, but if I could I would hold off on that for a year or so. Show Nick some love baby.

Didn't see this before I posted mine. I agree 100%.
Not trying to disrespect Nick, but I dont think 36 should be off limits. We gave it to Nick after Leroy Butler had it, just sayin 36 has worked pretty well for our safeties.

I understand that point of view. Its just too soon for me. I don't want to see it retired, but I think giving it a year would be okay. Unless he signs with another team then its free game.

Fair enough, the coaching staff could use it as motivation too. If a safety becomes all pro, give him the honor of carrying the torch that is #36. Have to earn it....

The NFL frowns on players changing numbers. I just think when it's something like an injury retirement to a big time player, you shelf it for a year or two. There was a gap between Butler and Collins wearing it as well.

Collins never had dreadlocks though.

I never saw Collins in college, or this guy.
That's why I am not #RealTed.
I stand behind him with this pick and hope he turns out good.

I like guys with some muscle like he has.

Very similar looking physique to what Collins had.

Man there is just nothing on this guy as far as video goes. But from what I've read he kinda sounds like Atari Bigby in Nick Collins' body.

I'd hazard a guess to say he's not nearly the liability in coverage that Bigby was.

Any chance we see Mcmillian playing ILB for us during obvious passing downs? His ability to tackle and blitz make him more valuable near the line of scrimmage.. I know Manning has a similar ability to play this roll on our defense. But I like the thought of putting 10 pounds on this sure tackler and then letting him lose on blitzes or at times dropping him off in zone coverage near the first down marker.

It also guarantees we wont see any more of A.J Hawk tailing a running back 10 yards downfield on third downs

But I of course am I fine with his potential roll at safety for our defense. Cant complain Very Happy

Yeah, as you said that sounds like a lot better of a role for Manning. Also I remember hearing McMillian likes to go for the big hit and needs to work on wrapping up, so there's that.

Sounds like an in-the-box safety, decent pick but I prefer Morgan Burnett at SS.

Why you say that CWood? The ball skills are not a plus there but that boy has a ton of range. Think he can play either safety spot in this fit. Never going to be a star because of the lack of ball skills. But can run and tackle well. Should be a player on the teams unit as well. Solid value for me at that slot. Might have been a few on the board that could have molded into better starters. But there is value in a guy like this on your football team. Never know, maybe the rest of his game will come around. Safe pick if you were looking for "that guy" though. Not real far off from Jennings to tell the truth.

I'll be completely honest, I haven't watched a single Maine game last year but from the few scouting reports I've read around the web it seems like he's pretty good around the line of scrimmage. And then the stats he put up in college seem like he's more of a factor in run defense than he is in pass coverage, not saying he's a liability though. Although that could be a product of how the Maine coaches used him. Think his value comes as a SS moreso than a FS, but I value really good ball skills from a FS though.

Got ya, and that's fair. Some work to be done before I would want to see him back there also. Not much difference in this fit between FS/SS. Think he can get you out of a game at either. If he molds into a starter down the line. Clearly I would want Burnett playing the free though.

This guy is the biggest question mark of the draft pour moi. I'm usually familiar with New England recruits but, McMillian was at the edge of the radar screen if not off it. My notes say he was recruited by USC as a QB out of high school. He looks like a combine numbers / need pick for sure. As always, if those two mesh, he could be a player.

Btw, his combine vertical was 36.5"/ pro day was 39". They must have less gravity in Maine.Smile Still pretty solid for a 5'11" guy.

My school was in the same conference as them. Most of the teams in that conference have running offenses (all besides like UMass and UNH). I doubt the defensive scheme asked for him to be in deep coverage often, which is why he has the "box safety" label. It would be interesting to see how he responds to such duties being asked of him.

I read somewhere that he did have 5 interceptions in 2009, so considering where the Packers took him I think there's more in terms of ball-hawking to his game than meets the eye.
