| So everyone here complaining are pretty much saying they ALL know more then everyone one of our scouts and front office who make the picks............. hmm so why arent you guys calling up Mr. Blank and telling him you guys are soooooooo much BETTER. just because you say say this kid shouldnt be drafted till the 7th holds allot and should of been heard since you know so well who will be good............................................................ ........................................................................................................... |

You like periods I guess. I do a lot of scouting and I had him as a 6th rounder. I will not call AB or TD and say anything because they have personal workouts, in-depth scouting combines, etc. to watch him. If I knew a lot more about him I would be mad, but you can't really see a whole lot of good video on him against teams like Houston, because their defense is almost as bad as a high school's. Not many of us are that mad with the pick though so there's no reason to freak out on anyone at this point.

It would be a lot better if we took these 5th or 6th round guys... in the 5th or 6th round!
Peters has worked out.. Dent just may work out... but they Have To be successful to justify the draft spot. Let's shoot for a 1st or 2nd round value with our 3rd... not just a 5th or 6th round project that has a higher chance of bust than boom.
The major knock on the Falcon's last few draft classes from everything I've read online is that we have too many OK/solid players and miss out on potential studs/game changers. This to me seems like another OK player.
That being said... I do like that Holmes is a great pass blocker. They aired it out in college and can hopefully bring some of that success to the Falcons. He has MASSIVE arms and 10" hands! As a former basketball player hopefully he's athletic for his gargantuan size. I like going OT and am going to have to trust the front office & TD to get a quality player out of this.

| People keep on talking abnout higher rated players available. And that is true. But players dont fall multiple rounds. Once every team passes up on a player, he didint fall, he just wasnt as highly thought of |

Exactly. How many highly touted players fall on draft day and then become successful in the NFL? There aren't many. There's a reason why these players fall. Scouts know A LOT more than us and draft scouting sites.

In addition, maybe Holmes would have lasted until the 5th, we'll never know. BU, just by reading about him, he seems very promising. Massive player with extremely long arms and good feet.
As far as people around here ranking players, I dont care where they had them on their board. Its a hobby. And one that you dont get near the information you need to make accurate opinions. |

One that comes immediately to mind is Carl Nicks. I was saying "Carl Nick, Carl Nicks, Carl Nicks" at the tv and we announced Kroy Biermann. True it doesn't happen a lot but a great player that falls still has a better chance to become great than a reach in my opinion. |

Carl Nicks is a great example, but I couldn't disagree more with the bolded part. For every Nicks type player you could name, I could name ten more highly touted prospects who fell on draft day and then became nothing in the NFL. I could also name ten players who the fans said "WHO?" when their name was called on draft day, but then become a successful player at the next level.

We go from 1 of the smallest Olines in the NFL to 1 of the biggest.

I think we were going for pass protectors instead of run blockers. Konz came from a mostly passing offense and so did Hughes.

The pass to run ratio might be skewed due to all the scrambles Wilson had. The only time they were "run heavy" was in goal line sets. Konz wasn't as good as an example as Hughes though. USM relied heavily on Austin Davis.
Just looked on some Wisconsin stats. They called passing plays between 40 and 45% of the time, so I guess you were right. Every time I watched them the seemed pass heavy. (Only game I watched was the game against MSU in the regular season).

328 pass attempts vs. 609 carries (524 when you take out rushing attempts from QB's). That's still a 62-38 run-pass ratio. They're about as run-heavy as you're gonna find in college football.
