Due to the nature of the wide 9, personnel often fits the 34 as well. Just the nature of the beast. I would guess for my money that we will stick with what we have done all along. |
I agree along the D Line, but our LB's are nothing like 3-4 LB. They have to cover more, dont blitz ever, and are not there to filll the gaps while our DT's eat the blcokers. The DE/OLB thing is similar, but thats about where that comparison ends. |
Once again, read the bolded.
Our DE's often fit 34 OLBs, our DTs often fit 34 DEs, our LBs often fit 34 ILBs, and CBs and Ss are pretty much CBs and Ss. |
Our DT's are pennetraters not block eaters and gap filers, thats why Corey Williams was traded out of it. Our LB's are not at all like ILB since they never blitz and have to cover a lot more. Other than the DE position there really isnt a lot of similarity, and even then our DE's dont need any ability to drop into coverage. So when we do draft LB's that fit that system, played that system in college, or have the skill set best suited for a 3-4, speculation on us running a 3-4 at times is very valid.
And out of our DE's, Avril and maybe Willie Young fit a 3-4 OLB. KVB and Lo Jack would be lost in a 3-4. |
Well, I guess in that case we will just have to agree to disagree.
Although you do have a good point on the blitzing for a 34 ILB, they are also very much asked to look to stop the run as well. And often(NEs 34 a couple years back comes to mind) 34 DEs are asked to be penetrators, to crush the pocket while the NT sucks up blockers.
It is not perfection, for sure, but I see alot of similarities personally. _________________

I am shocked Broyles leads the voting. Even if he is 100% for the entire year, he'll still be at best a 4th or 5th option. And in todays NFL, his returns will be limited, if hes even doing that for us. Meanwhile, I am expecting a big upgrade at RT. Easy choice: Reiff. _________________

| I would like to say Broyles but I read he was going to start the season on the PUP so I am leaning towards Mikel LeShoure if we can add him. |

| Its got to be Reiff imo. He will be a day 1 starter at one of the spots on the right side. If healthy Broyles will prob have 1 or 2 big time games that get everybody exited about him but there just isnt enough balls to go around in year 1 for him to be ROY over a full time oline starter |

No one said he would start the season on the PUP. Mayhew said it could be a possibility. |

He may start as a 4th or 5th option. I highly doubt he ends the season as a 4th or 5th option. _________________

If we are counting LeShoure, I will say he will be it if he isn't suspended for too many games. While I don't feel he will be as effective as he would have been pre-injury, he is still young and it sounds as though the expected recovery rate is pretty good these days. I think he could be pretty good still.
Otherwise I stick with Ronnell. _________________

Gonna go with Bentley. He'll probably start at CB for us (at least as a nickel) and I'd look for him to go a couple INT's.
Broyles has a shot since if he's completely healthy he'll not only contribute on Offense but probably take Logan's return job. _________________

I'm going Bentley. I think he provides a solid option for us at corner and gets a few picks. _________________ AAL: DeAndre Levy 31 Tackles
