The Raiders Fired Jon Kingdon, Director of our College Scouting after 33 years...2 days after the draft? hmm...

We knew This move was going to be made before the draft, I think it was basically already known they just wanted to wait for the draft to be over. So nothing to go hmmm about haha.

Now you must explain your reasoning. Why was it known?

I forget when exactly but McKenzie basically said it in so many words without actually saying it earlier this year after he was hired. That and the interest in the Jets scout over the past few weeks. The writing was not only on the wall, it was in chalk, marker, finger paint and everything else.

Yeah, they've been preparing a lat move for a little while now. It makes sense to finish out the draft process before they go ahead with it.

I never like to see anyone lose their job, but were in a new era of Raider football and its to be expected that the new GM would want to bring in his guys. It sucks to see a guy that has been here for so long go, but at the end of the day the NFL is a business and guys are going to make the best moves for their careers and that means brining in guys that you know and trust.

I wish him the best of luck in whatever he does after this.

Plus it would make sense that Reggie would bring in a guy he knows well and works well with. He said he wanted to bring in his own guy when he fired Hue. And most of knew that he was going to re-vamp the entire scouting department because he said it. Now that the draft is over he can bring in his guy and get started. When you are in a position like the GM you want to have total trust and familiarity with the guy working directly under you. Who better than someone he has known for the past 30 or so years.'

Kingdon had a full career here and his time is just up. He was Al Davis' guy and that regime is going by the way side.

Maybe Reg didn't like that most of the scouting reports just said "he's fast, pick him" or "he's not very fast, don't pick him."

McKenzie is Ron Wolf's guy who was Al Davis' guy.

I'm not exactly thrilled by the Jets guy. Their drafts have been pretty bad lately.

True But it's not like he's making the picks

Yes, but previous to the past few years they were pretty damn good drafts. Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, etc.

It all depends on how much the guy was actually involved in the picks, which we will likely never know.

This!

Kinda fishy that Coples', who is also an Omega, had his epic stock drop abruptly stopped by his exiting fraternity brother in Clinkscale. But it's not unusual as Steelers HC Tomlin, who is a Kappa, threw his frat, Wesley Saunders a bone in UDFA last season and almost hired Jim Caldwell, who is also a Kappa.

My only real concern is McKenzie allowing himself to be surrounded by "yes" men.

Doesn't McKenzie have the final say in who he drafts?

He probably does but what is the job description of a director of college scouting? I'd guess he has a bit of influence when it comes to setting up a draft board. He's certainly partly responsible for allowing a Vernon Gholston to be in consideration with a top 5 pick.

I'm positive he wasn't the only one who had Vernon gholston that high
